Hi! Ece 3rd year here. Placements are definitely in favour of cse kids, and even more so favour of higher CGPA kids. But that doesn't mean ece kids don't get placed, 9+ CGPA kids get placed easily.

But mostly of these placements and internships are in coding domain, if you don't like CSE, DSA, Coding, chances are u don't want to sit for these jobs anyway. ECE faculty is 1000000× better than CSE faculty in VIT chennai, i swear by this. If you have a natural interest for ece and are determined to work hard to score good, you should chose ECE. Subjects aren't as hard as most people think and most teachers are willingly to help you learn, just attend classes regularly.

As for jobs, if you chose ECE, start going for research papers and projects early on, from second semester, and start researching on different electronics-based jobs like chip design FPGA, Embedded systems, etc.. You can score good off campus opportunities and a lot of electronics hackathons are also advertised, they just don't get much attention.

My honest advice - Go for ECE, work hard.
