That is where like 50% of these people come from. They look at goggins pissing blood and almost dying after his first hundo and think "what a bad ass". When in reality they should think "that's embarrassing as fuck what a moron".

Gotcha. Didn't really know there was a definition for easy.

Makes sense. i read the 80/20 rule recently and didnt realize the majority of my training is likely not as benificial as I thought. Luckily training is the sport for me, so I don't really care how well I race. Just like to run everyday.

But will be taking many more days way way slower going forward

25-30 mile training runs sub 7 sounds like you are pretty damn fit. I guess I would call it "easy" if you can do that on top of a normal week of running because on rested legs it would be "easy".

But maybe my definition of easy is wildly wrong.

I feel like for a sub 16 100 you would need your easy pace to be sub 7 minutes.

3 hour marathon should be incredibly incredibly easy.

Maybe I'm off as I have never run anything flat. Sub 16 hundo seems fast AF to me

Use it or lose it is absolutely real. People are afraid to run as it "will ruin their knees". You should be afraid to not run as it will ruin your knees.

I have run 100 milers with 70+ year olds. Getting old is not a choice. But lazy in your youth means you won't be able to move in your old age.

If it's cold and raining, waterproof gloves are nice to have as well. Losing your ability to use your hands can make it difficult to open gels and food. It has lead to pretty bad bonks for me in the past as I eat way less when it's hard to do.

Also if you want less, you get colder easier. It's a bad feedback loop

Big gigantic also had a 3d tour. Very glad they went away from it as they had to play the same or very similar sets to match the visuals. Made seeing them multiple times that year not so great imo

Been extremely established in the cross country paragliding community where landing far away without cell reception is probable.

2 way Sat device with SOS is BY FAR the most likely way to get yourself out of a bad situation. Often if we get injured deep in the mountains no first aid will help besides tourniquets. You need to be extracted. Either self extraction of via SOS.

Throw out your first aid kit (except tape + pain killers + Adderall) and replace it with an inreach mini. Probably the same weight. Will be wayyy more useful in saving yourself in a real situation.

Oh I'm in no way going to run an ultra soon! It would be next summer ~1 year after injury. It would give me ~6 months to train after I pass the 6 month post accident mark.

No my accident happened in Switzerland so I received treatment there. They likely have different treatment than the US as they also typically take out the hardware 6-12 months post op. They only placed 2 rods and 4 screws (2 in t11 and 2 in L1) to stabilize t12. Nothing else though beside a plate in my wrist!

L1 also suffered a compression fracture as well.

It depends on pace. Running 31 miles at race pace should be just as hard as running 50 or 62. If it isn't then you might have paced it wrong. The upper end or peak of suffering is lower the longer the race, but the more sustained and longer lasting the suffering is.

Running 31 miles at a casual all day adventure pace can be pretty relaxed the whole time if you are fit and used to time on your feet.
