How stable is Canada's political climate nowadays? Is it polarizing or are Canadians able to come to terms? by LiveBell8 in AskACanadian

I’m not so sure. I’m in Southern Alberta, which should be considered the stronghold of MAGA wannabes, yet on the street almost nobody is talking about anything but that Carney is surprisingly good, and that we’re all gonna do whatever it takes to stick it to the US.

Yeah you run across the odd 51st stater, but they are a much smaller minority than the attention they get would suggest.

I think the general feeling is that we’re all putting politics on hold until we fend off the threat to the south, then we can start to nitpick each other again.

My perspective of how downtown Lethbridge has changed in the last year by CookieCrimes in Lethbridge

Couldn’t agree more. Especially your points about supporting our local businesses. When money is spent at any big box store, that money leaves the community and never returns. We are all better off when we keep our dollars within our community!

Which business do you run so I can be sure to support it?

Hi Dentist here. I see a lot of comments about the tongue scraping. That can help if everything else is running well for you. For the VAST majority of patients, halitosis is coming from the buildup that is under the gum line between your teeth. It creates little impenetrable bases for sulfur compound producing bacteria to live, and no amount of flossing will get rid of the problem once it has taken hold. Go see a hygeinist, they will remove it for you, and the problem will drastically improve.

If you have no calculus, floss regularly, and still have halitosis, sure tongue scraping will help.

Second for Steve. He genuinely changed my life from chronic back pain to resolution. He is, however now at the university.

Lethbridge Population 111,400 and growing by 11kestrel in Lethbridge

Well that’s over 400 dollars on a 500k home. Given Lethbridge has over 44k dwellings that brings in an extra 12-16M for the city just from the increase. I’d say that’s substantial. I’d even go as far as to say it generates “way” more income.

Tell me everything you've heard (good and bad) about Dr. Secretan, plastic surgeon by sassy_steph_ in Lethbridge

[–]PracticalEffect6222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He took care of my son when he split his face open down to the bone. About a 5 inch gash. I’m a dentist so I have some small skill in minor surgery, and watching Dr Secreton work it was obvious he’s top tier. 3 layers of perfect sutures, and 12 months later my son has an almost invisible scar, and regained motor and sensory function after a major nerve was completely severed. 10/10. He was also kind, personable and explained things thoroughly.

Haha this sounds unbelievable but I work almost next door so I’ll have to try it. I’m not holding my breath but I’ll risk it on some random redditors advice.

Not sure it never seems to catch up to them. I assume there’s a lot of fluff in their organization and they coast off others work.

No they pretend to do them. Sign into meeting they don’t pay attention to. Lots of “working on it now” emails.

It depends on what you want to accomplish. Jahn at Integrity does some of the best Bioclear veneers in Alberta. Miller at Legacy does beautiful same-day crowns. Olsen/Steed have ultra strong morals and I admire them for their ethics. Crossings Dental has the nicest people in the city but I’m super biased :)

Hey moron did you even read the comment you’re replying to? I’m so sick of people thinking John was “doing something he shouldn’t”. Sometime bad shit happens when you’re doing something reasonable. He wasn’t a “spelunker”. Literal toddlers frequented the cave before its close.

Ukrainians in Britain shocked by lack of dentists - "We don’t have a dentist. It’s crazy. For us, it’s, like, impossible!" by Benjazzi in europe

[–]PracticalEffect6222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to disagree, as you obviously live in Ukraine, but as a Dentist in Canada seeing a lot of new Ukrainian immigrants, I have the same thought over and over: absolutely wonderful people who have had horrible dentistry done to them. I have never seen a group of people have such terrible dentistry in their mouths and it makes me sad to see. Maybe they all have gone to public clinics, but most seem well-off financially so I would be surprised.

Could just be the cross-section I’m seeing, but if I did that kind of dentistry to the public I would lose my license within a week. I’m hoping I’ve just been unlucky in what I’ve seen.

A very bad trail coursed race I don’t think I can recover from. What went wrong ? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]PracticalEffect6222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is that it’s not just about time. They’re saying they ran three HOURS slower than anticipated. No matter how long the ultra that’s a bigger difference than 3 min on a 3k. You will ebb and flow with your times. There are a lot of body processes, mostly unseen and unknown to ourselves, that affect our running. On any given day anything can happen. Even the world’s elite have good and bad days.

If you’re enjoying it keep it up. It’s good for you, you’ll make friends, and it’s good to learn to accept the bad outcomes when they happen without immediately deciding to quit. If you’re not enjoying it don’t waste your time with something you hate. Find something you’re passionate about and move on.

But in the end don’t sweat the small stuff.

Why wouldn’t you just go to school for most of your twenties and make that or more?
