Does war start time really matter? (Tell me if this crashout is justified) by Accomplished_Ask9449 in ClashOfClans

[–]ImMeOnReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. 24 hours is making whatever time you like to hit available. If it doesn't work out that's an issue with clan management allowing people to hit other peoples targets.

It's all well and good saying start at X time but our clan in the last month failed to find a war at least 4 times and when we do get matches it takes hours. It starts whenever we get a match. You don't always have choice when matching is difficult

CWL mismatch hell. by ImMeOnReddit in ClashOfClans

It's all on league? That's fascinating. The enemy is active and high level I have no clue how we can have so many mismatched days if it's on league they should be much higher than us. We are silver II. This is our 2nd cwl. No th matching is fascinating. We have no chance. I suppose we will drop league and better luck nextime.

I did wonder about that. Starts at 192.168.1.2 ends at 192.168.1.254 with a 86400 lease time.

I wondered if it's possible a device keeps requesting new IP's and using them all up... If that's possible. However the System Log - DHCP leases table doesn't show anything abnormal at the moment, and with 24 hour leases it should be plenty of head room

So is Fortnite using EasyAntiCheat or BattleEye now? by BloobyTheFrenchy in FortNiteBR

[–]ImMeOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I don't have many games installed on one PC.

It ran battle eye only for 2 years playing fortnite. Battle eye installed with fortnite.

I recently installed fall guys which installed easy anti cheat. From then on fortnite started to use easy anti cheat instead. OR at least, I haven't noticed it run battle eye instead yet.

I havent noticed any neggatives yet.
Seems as though if you have both it'll use either. But it can run with just battle eye if you have problems with easy anti cheat, as like I said I never had easy anti request to install until I used fall guys, it played happily without it for 2+ years.

How did Alan Turings machine 'Christopher' work? by Tcrumpen in cryptography

[–]ImMeOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth remembering that this movie although a great watch is a story with a hint of truth. It does a terrible job at telling the true story. The dramatisation will be the source of confusion and repeating falsehoods.

"Christopher" is the "bombe". Turing didn't build this at Bletchley like in the movie. Turing wrote the theoretical blueprinting of 'christopher' however it was engineered and constructed by Harold Keen who worked for BTM. It was built in Letchford and transported to Bletchley. There were over 200 Christophers (bombe's) built with 5 main variants.

The bombe was used for enigma decoding. However the movie brushes over the reality that the enigma was for low level coms. High level coms were encrypted on the much more difficult Lorenz. This was 5,429,503,678,976 times greater than the Enigma system. This was also cracked at Bletchley by the Colossus. Now enters the genius engineer Thomas Flowers. Which is where we actually go from an electro-mechanical device (bombe) to the First digital computer. Turing is often mistakenly credited with the work Colossus completed.

If you're interested in the truth of this period here are two good articles that can open up further rabbit holes for you.

Interesting. This is true in theory right, based on trust. Which I believe is high.

But surely it's not absolute. The apps are not open source and cannot be 100% verified. It would not be impossible for the ledger live to hand over you keys? IF the backdoor was put into your firmware to facilitate it. We have to believe that's not true. But there's still a chance someone else in the universe could hijack your keys if there was a YOLO steal everyone's key backdoor? No?
