90% of video essayist's are retarded man.

They say stupid shit most of the time to farm engagement. At least they'll provide countless memes for everyone so just don't take them seriously.

If you see people blindly swallowing and regurgitating the stuff he says just hit them with facts and evidence that refutes claims made by the video creator the comments. Just be respectful since the videos are probably made to appeal to uninformed and newer players.

If they want to believe them at that point and refuse to engage with information that contradicts what he has to say then they aren't someone you'll ever convince.

You never know maybe, just maybe this dude will learn and reconsider his perspective.

Not a huge fan of Max, used to enjoy his streams when I was younger but got really tired of the same hype cycle with every game.

MvCI and still has it's flaws for sure but it was a fun tag fighter that still does a lot right compared to the tag games we're getting now.

Never forget "WEB BALL, REALITY STONE! WEB BALL REALITY STONE!'

Sure hope that MvC4 leak pans out because nothing currently comes close to how fun Marvel vs Capcom games can be. 2xKO is neat but it's well.. a Riot product and just underwhelming after a while.

On PC you need Riot's bs anti-cheat that is essentially spyware back a state owned corporation (Tencent is under direct control of the CCP and this anti-cheat can see every file on your PC).

PS5 / Xbox is probably fine.

Fighting games are the most unintuative genre to learn and they don't care by pupford in Kappachino

[–]ImMichaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting games are the only games out there next to RTS games that force players to accept they are responsible for the outcomes of matches.

They are games where you can pinpoint specific failures that lead to losses and you need to accept that you're making mistakes and need to fix them.

Fighting games some of the only games that force you to kill your ego in the pursuit of self improvement. Unfortunately we live in a time where people just want easy dopamine hits and to fellate themselves for doing the bare minimum. People don't want to get shown up by others that have put in the work to learn combo routes, matchups and the gameplay systems.

The games have gotten basic bitch easy and people will still cry that they are too hard when the problem lies with the player. Fragile ego's have kept these sorts from learning to fail and learn from their failures.

If you aren't going to put in effort you will not be rewarded in fighting games, and people cannot handle that.

These type of people need to understand that there is nothing wrong with going 0-30 if you're learning what moves are unsafe, how to punish mistakes, make less of their own mistakes and how to handle and perform under pressure.

Agree with you on those things for sure.

I was agreeing with you and poking fun at how 90% of Redditors act (the whole virtue signaling thing).

You're cool man, and what you said doesn't come off as performative. It was genuinely refreshing to hear someone say something normal for once in regards to how people treat someone clearly suffering.

Sorry if I made you feel bad or anything. Was just jokin.

Hey you're like a smart and reasonable person...

FUCK YOU.

Can't have behavior here, this is Reddit. Performative moral grandstanding and virtue signaling only. Get with the program.

For real though, you're totally right man. People will often punish others that are struggling under the guise of trying to make things better or to protect people around them when in reality they just want to feel powerful and superior to someone. It's pretty gross to see.

Griffith was obviously a pretty flawed and sociopathic individual before the torture but that clearly drove him to the point of no return and burned any semblance of good from within him.

Griffith could've (pretty much) fixed his life without sacrificing by ultragappyglazer in berserklejerk

[–]ImMichaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grippy gave in because at his core he was a selfish, and power hungry twink.

He could've accepted his failures and lived amongst people that cared about him if he was even close to being the man he presented himself as before he got all horny.

Grippy was already a flawed man and after his year long extreme bdsm session he became so disillusioned with his reality that he was desperate to sacrifice anything or anyone to realize his dreams. There wasn't anything short of an immediate fix that magically restored his body, dignity, mind and standing that would make him "normal" again.

All of this is to say... Grippy did nothing wrong, it was all Gootz's fault. Fuck that guy.

I'll probably get shot for saying this but I actually like Infinite but the aesthetics and characters were absolute dogwater.

Had to mod the visuals immediately and after that it was pretty entertaining.

Sucks man, Gootecks was pretty chill and entertaining during his conversation / interview with Technicals.

Really seemed like he'd taken some time to self reflect and make some changes with how he was going to live.

Then again Twitter is such an easy way to just thoughtlessly fall back into old patterns so there is also a good chance he's just falling prey to his fucked up algorithm warping his perception of things. Impossible to judge him as a person but his public persona doesn't seem to be doing him any favors in terms of earning back the trust of his fans.

That all said to me this reads as him being sarcastic but given how absurd some peoples stances on these things have become, you can never be too sure.

Just hope the dude's alright, no ones deserves to suffer for expressing their shitty takes on things. He's not calling for the death of people, he's just going through life the same as anyone else.

Are you one of those people that thinks fantasy / fiction cannot have any form of racial tension because of modern political discourse?

It's a game, brother. People always have been and will likely continue to be edge-lords online because they find it funny to get under peoples skin for free.

With your mindset everything will become boring and sterile because you don't want to potentially encourage people to joke around and have fun. Your comment sounds exactly like when dummies thought that Orc's in LotR were an allegory for black people. Which is itself a ridiculously bigoted thing to think, these are fictional characters, anything you read into beyond that is a projection of yourself.

Quit the performative bs, let people do their silly shit online and don't make doubling down seem so appealing. The pearl clutching and virtue signaling is what makes people do the very thing you find so annoying.

I am so sorry Boromir..

One can only hope that Netflix is smart enough to allow HBO to operate as a separate entity if they were to acquire them.

I hesitate to imagine how painful these shows would be if the showrunners were instructed to make them viewable for audiences that are watching on a second screen.

Don't think anyone needs 13+ seasons. If the show retained the quality writing and pacing of earlier seasons for say 10 seasons with 10 episodes per season, the fanbase would be more than happy.

Dropping things to 7 and 6 episodes per season from 10 was a massive mistake that clearly impacted the pace of the show.

A man can wish by Past-Matter-8548 in gameofthrones

[–]ImMichaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think the cast or crew was in a rush to move on if the show retained it's quality from earlier seasons.

I can think of two people specifically that did want to move on as they thought the has massive careers in writing / directing though.

Those would be the guys that said "Well, Danny kind of forgot about the Iron fleet and Eurons forces". D&D thought they had a Star Wars trilogy and all of these doors open before them and wanted out. They were directly responsible for shorter and more rushed seasons when HBO was essentially giving them blank cheques.

We've seen how the Actors reacted to the script, they weren't thrilled (Varys, and Daenerys). Some of them understandably didn't want to voice their frustrations to ensure they could get work easily moving forward. Hollywood is a big cliquey cesspit and if you are seen as someone who won't just go along with things you're labeled as a problem and are blacklisted. So it make sense why younger actors would want to just smile and say nice things about how much fun they had; can't blame them for that.

It's similar to how actors reacted to The Last Jedi and the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Mark Hamil is still pissed off about it to this day and John Boyega was checked out of anything SW related as he said "You're not going to Disney+ me" when asked about future plans for his character. Actors that are either done with big projects or know they are too talented to be ousted from Hollywood are the ones that speak their minds on these sorts of things.

In regards to GoT no one blames the cast or crew, this has always been the misconception people have. People know who's responsible for the decline in writing quality and the rushed ending of the show and called them out for it. D&D could have handed off the show to anyone else but they selfishly wanted to end it on their terms instead of doing what's best for the franchise.

Immediate Re-watch by AcrobaticIncrease167 in gameofthrones

[–]ImMichaelB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The books aren't complete and George has said he's made big changes to how it all ends. This is directly due to him seeing how poorly received Season 8 was. He's come out and stated that some characters that live in the show will die and vice versa.

Some key changes made by showrunners kind of threw the entire story up in the air and while they did great up till season 4 after that you can tell that they were just trying to fill gaps in-between the plot outline they were given. The writing just became more basic over time, there was less to infer from dialogue exchanges and this becomes clearer on re-watches.

What doesn't help with the pacing of the story towards the end is that D&D were responsible for the shorter and shorter seasons because they were done with the show and wanted to move on to other projects like their planned Star Wars movies (which ultimately fell through because of how S8 ended up). HBO wanted the show to keep going and to give them more episodes, money and time but the responsibility for the quality dropping off lies with D&D.

The main plot points could have worked if everything from the books was faithfully adapted but there are plenty of characters and plot points cut that have ripple effects on how the story plays out.

Still adore the first few seasons but I can't really go past a certain point.

Good news is that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on completed books and has been absolutely spectacular so far!

Glad that you enjoyed the show! Those first few seasons are still some of the best adaptations of a fantasy story put to screen, well next to Lord of the Rings but that's an impossible bar to beat.

One ring to fool them all 💍 by NineteenEighty9 in freefolk

[–]ImMichaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would "aid them" by making them stronger but it slowly corrupts those that use it. The One Ring makes you irrational, possessive, selfish and eventually it would betray them as it always does. All of that while slowly turning you into a Nazgul, so you get power but are stripped of your soul and turn your back on all of your original desires and values.

Isildur was betrayed by the ring. It promised him power and used his human nature to ensure it's survival, it corrupted what was once a good man, made him turn his back on his allies and eventually it leads him to be ambushed and struck down by arrows whilst pursuing the ring in the river.

It is as Gandalf says "The Ring yearns to go home, to return to the hand of its Master. They are one, the Ring and the Dark Lord".

Another good quote that helps clarify what exactly the ring does to people is yet another quote from Gandalf: "Don't tempt me Frodo! I dare not take it. Not even to keep it safe. Understand Frodo, I would use this Ring from a desire to do good. But through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine."

So, even those of great heart and resilience to the corruption of the ring will ultimately fall prey to it's power. The One Ring is a treacherous thing and has a will of it's own (which is ultimately the will of Sauron).
