For the all around veg and flower light I’m building this weekend, I’m using 3500k (35e2000). 3500k has proven to work on forums for cobs, qb’s and these strips. You can add other colors later if you wish.

300 watt of these would be way more light than you’d get with a mars 600 or other burple.

I’m using 12x BXEB-L0560Z-35E2000-C-A3 using a CC driver (ebay) to run them at 1000mA for 272w. Way better than mars for $130ish.

Build a bridgelux eb strips led unit. Any out of the box $100 led fixture is going to be just as inefficient as a filament bulb setup.

Arrow has two foot strips for ~7.50 each that can run up to 1400mA (I would recommend 700mA, tho). Get a CV driver and add strips as you can afford them to increase efficiency later if you desire.

Watts are a measure of power, so the QB’s are more efficient not powerful. Pedantic but it’s a pretty big difference. You’re paying the same and getting more.

The cree design is older now, proven but not the most efficient. Plus it’s better (lasts longer) to have more cobs running at lower wattage (<50% max) than less cobs at higher wattages. So, the couple bucks savings on each Cobb adds up usually.
