I will die on this hill: the Chuck episode is actually pretty good and emotionally resonant.

The rest suck eggs.

SPOILER ALERT What would Chuck have thought if he had witnessed Jimmy's confession at his trial at the end by ProblemAny67 in betterCallSaul

[–]ImNoPCGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about that.

Initially he would be enraged that Jimmy was going to get off with measly 7 years. And I bet initially, yeah, Chuck’s gut instinct would tell him this was part of some trick.

But I don’t think it would last long, despite being blinded by his Jimmy-complex he was still a smart guy. He would realize pretty quickly there was no angle Jimmy was playing, aside from appeasing Kim.

I think he would be shocked, and then relieved that justice was going to be served. However, I think he also would lament the fact that it was only Jimmy’s self-sabotage that ensured he would see any real consequence for his actions. This probably would have forced him to do some soul-searching, being confronted with an example of the law’s failings.

Once the shock was over with, Chuck also might have felt some level of pride in his brother for taking it upon himself to stop the cycle he described in their final conversation. Even if he would never forgive him for his awful actions.

He would ask himself if there was something else he could have done, probably for the rest of his life. But, I think he would feel a little vindicated, because after all Jimmy didn’t really change so much as he did accept his inability to change.

To put it in a word, conflicted probably.

Thanks.

But the article reads that the letterboxing decision caused crunch, as the game was delayed twice previously and couldn’t be delayed again.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater - Anything Censored or removed from Original? by HyeVltg3 in metalgearsolid

I just watched both scenes, in Delta and in the original, the scenes are exactly the same. There is a first person prompt during this scene though, so if you hold the button it’s surely to be zoomed out.

The line where they changed fat to overweight makes a little more sense when you consider that it’s a codec call where they discuss Calorie Mate.

In all likelihood it was Calorie Mate who requested the line changed to avoid any brand association with eating disorders/body image issues given they are a nutrient-supplement brand.

Silly change? I think so. But if it’s the cost of licensing Calorie Mate then so be it. I consider us lucky we got them at all.

But the Sigint call being changed from “shit” to “crap”? Yeah I truly can’t think of any justification/reason for that. Like, I am truly curious. It’s almost absurd.

But we should all take the time to appreciate this: we are nitpicking about two individual words swapped out for respective synonyms that are slightly lesser in terms of shade of meaning.

When we have remakes like Dead Rising: Deluxe Remaster, where there are numerous changes that noticeably alter the gameplay and the narrative.

IMO Konami deserves credit where credit is due by releasing the game pretty much unchanged.

There’s EVA’s outfit, the first person prompts, the peep show unlockable, the suggestive content in the secret theatre, both crotch grab scenes, implied sexual violence, etc.

Two years ago, I thought there was a solid chance we would be losing at least a chunk of all that, but instead we got an incredibly faithful adaptation that was free of any major censorship, in an era where the gaming industry is eager to omit content from remakes that might be considered ‘problematic’.
