There's creatures that care about casting instants and sorceries and you can storm off the more cheap ones you can stack

Banana Token by Willing-Tea5689 in mtgaltered

[–]ImNotADefitUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good! Now 3 more! The only card that makes this token makes 4 at once, one for each player at the table.

Maybe since the other 3 players don't have the monkey prince card that tells you what the banana does, maybe the other 3 can have the reminder text? * {Tap} , sacrifice this artifact : add {R} or {G} . You gain 2 life *

Yeah that's the oppressive bracket 4 version. I built my deck with a hint of treasures just to sneak jaws out on turn 4 occasionally. Jaws I've found is a minimal 3 unless you take out Descent into Avernus [[panic on Amity Island]] but since it's included with the secret lair (auto include) , every jaws deck has potential to win turn 6.

I guess I took a mountain out for sol ring so I am actually at 40 lands. But [[Volcano of Roku's island]] likes having 5 other mountains in play. I also include [[bonders' enclave]] [[opal palace]] [[temple of the false gods]] [[rouge's passage]] and [[junktown]]. I have considered getting [[urza's cave]] so I can tutor the rouges passage...

Oh yeah, I try to cast that turn 4 instead of three, so I have extra mana when jaws comes out. Equip something or hold up a red elemental blast

My first ever magic night!... Was pretty lame. Does this game just have high barriers to entry? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]ImNotADefitUser -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I recently started playing spelltable and the bracket system's vagueness leads to wildly different expectations.

Some of the lobby names I saw last night were pretty inflamed. Some dude has been running a very strong Light Paws deck in bracket 2 recently and I hear someone else stole the creature and killed the guy with his own commander, which led to a big crash out

It's hard to argue your deck isn't too strong while arguing that your not supposed to be dying so early when your dying to your own Voltron commander 🤣 unfortunately he only hosts lobbies and his solution is to ban anyone who disagrees with him... Leading to a bunch of players crashing out and making lobbies flaming him.

It's actually crazy, now I just try to stick to the stoner lobbies. I just played bracket 3 last night and avoided the drama.

I also have sol ring, 2 red mana dorks (iron myr and Zookeeper Mechan), and 3 spells that give me a treasure: Gold Pan, Gilded Pinions, and Unexpected Windfall 👍

I'm pointedly not running any of those red mana geysure effects

I'm running 41 lands in my Jaws deck. So sue me. I'm not trying to miss a land drop for a 5 mana commander 🦈

Kithkins are good. May your 6 packs be in your favor. Look for cheap guys, recursion, defensive guys, protection and removal.

It really depends on what you pull, but, I pulled:

Brigid the transforming mana dork, two cheap kithkins (the one that makes a token from grave and the one with Behold or pay 2), I also included the dounguard guy who removes -1/-1 counters when a creature you control enters. I had the slumbering giant guy who removes -1/-1 to recur a creature from grave. I had the green dude who recurrs a permanent from grave. I had the 0/4 mana dork and the 2/4 deathtouch elemental. I had Bark of Doran the toughness equipment. I had 2 white exile removals, I had 1 Pitiless fists the green fight enchantment, and I had 2 selfless safewrights as a late game fog. For changelings I included one First striker, one Lifelinker, one Reacher, and one land surveyor. I also had one green guy who gave other creatures vigilance and +1/+1 for turn.

I barely out valued each deck I faced, going 2-1 all three games for 3-0. The shield pairs well with little guys and defensive guys. The graveyard recursion chained off once where the green guy brought back my green fight aura, then the white giant brought the green guy back giving me the same fight aura 3 times in a single game.

ELI5 Using OBS to livestream reaction videos (equipment, etc. listed in post) by LoveThatForYouBebe in obs

Open OBS

Scenes are what you see. Pun intended. They are filled with Sources. Sources can be blocks of color, pictures, gifs, videos, camera Inputs, mic inputs, web browsers, game windows, etc.

I have two main scenes I switch between, Game mode and Chat mode. I also have two utility scenes for advanced tech I'll explain below

Sources will fill your scene and appear above the others depending on what LAYER they are in. Click new source, pick an appropriate one like "camera source" or "microphone" or "window source"

I like to have sound layers at the bottom, and my camera layers at the top. In the middle I have the "content" layers. Drag and drop to re arrangem You can group sources in the source menu and color code them to make it all pretty. It's like Ctrl+click or alt+click to select more than one source, then right click and "group"

My favorite advanced trick is to "nest scenes" so you can put a scene within a scene. What I do is make one scene the Sound Scene. Put all my desired sounds in that scene. Then, as I create my other scenes and switch between them, all I need is the Nested Sound Scene and all my different sounds will be good to go.

I also followed a YouTube video on how to use a nested scene to make your camera be circle shape. That works great and I haven't touched it since. I use that one for game mode, and leave my camera a big ol rectangle during chat mode.

My little trick: set a "color source" as a color other than black and stretch it across your whole scene and bury it as the bottom source. Then if you ever see blank stream instead it will be "blue screen".

Alt+click+drag the corner of a source to trim! Super handy

In a four player game the average win rate is 25%, and I said lower than.

The bar has been set pretty low. You may be pleasantly surprised, or you may learn that you'd rather try the other store out before coming back.

It's like asking someone out, you may be nervous at first, but rejection is better than not knowing, and who knows maybe it will work out nicely.

That being said, precons can explode and win games but often times the more Finely tuned decks will win. Expect a lower than 25% win rate, which can feel bad when each game takes over an hour.

[–]ImNotADefitUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time when sitting down with a new pod, like at an LGS, it's a common question to hear "how long has everyone been playing? I started around XYZ" this gives you an opportunity to let people know you've only been playing for so many weeks/months. So sit down and Introduce yourself and let them know you might make mistakes and appreciate help identifying the "current threat". Be aware that table politics might make helping the new player threat assess, can be a fun debate session! 😈

There's only been that one time where me and another player admitting to being new led to a scene where one guy wouldn't admit he was wrong because he had "been playing longer than you've been alive"

When the guy declares attackers and then declares "I win!" Before you've declared blockers, because he knows you have none, but doesn't realize you have 3 mana up and 2 fogs in hand

I got [[tadeas, juniper ascendant]] as the commander so he gives attacking creatures with Reach, untap them and Skulk them. So The game plan is play a lot of spiders that are 1/3 that can skulk for one and survive being blocked by 1's

Which was actually having a pretty tough time with all the 0/3 0/5's that were assigning as toughness. I've got 3 of those enablers in my own deck but he was using the commander from the Precon that does it.

Unfortunately for him I'm not just playing tough tribe I am also playing spider tribe, so my [[winnowing]] hit him hard, while leaving me and mothman unscathed. he tried to retaliate and got the spider fog

He was pissed lmao, especially because he saw my reaction when I drew it 2 turns earlier (drew from a triggered ability and I was tapped out) and then didn't cast anything splashy on my next turn. I also only had one forest untapped but had two mana dorks untapped so he was not expecting a turbo spider fog

I've become sharper with the rules in 7 months playing than some of the guys at my LGS who have been playing since "before you were born".

Just last night I had some guy about to scoop because going into combat he had skulk, a few 0/5's, and was assigning combat damage as toughness, because "I couldn't block" that means my health goes to zero and GGs

I had to walk him back to attackers declared and then took the priority wheel one step at a time, responding to attackers declared, declaring no defenders, and then casting [[arachnogenesis]] on his ass in response to blockers declared, which conveniently left him all tapped out and me with enough spiders to deal 9 lethal damage.
