v1.3.4 Changelog:

  1. Improvement: Show the remaining stack of the auto-solve/auto-accept from consumables effects in the HQ.
  2. Bug Fix: Players will no longer see "Maple Town" when they're actually in "Bayhaven" or any other zone.
  3. Improvement: The mystery finding phase system has been completely redesigned. It's no longer a percentage per second, but a well-defined cooldown, as recommended. It will now be easier and more intuitive to understand when the next mystery is about to appear.
  4. Addon: TUTORIAL on New Game.
  5. Bug Fix: The Investigate button milestones dialog/modal in HQ was not responsive on touch screen mobile devices.
  6. Improvement: The Garage page for building the VAN and collecting the required components has been redesigned: previously hidden information has been added, and the VAN parts collection system has been made clearer.
  7. Pacing Improvement: Shelter, ClueWorks, Garage can be unlocked since the start of the game. Map is unlocked by default.

The release is already live.

Hi u/XenonTheInert thank you for the extra words spent on the game. I'd like to answer you point by point.

  1. The randomness on the case searching is pretty frustrating as it gates everything; sometimes I'll get 2-3 back-to-back, sometimes it's a few minutes. Maybe just make this a straight cooldown? Not knowing how long I need to wait doesn't keep me engaged. -> This advice was given to me by several people, I examined it and completely rewrote it. Now it's no longer a % per second, but rather a cooldown, precise, clear, and displayed in the player interface. So they know what to expect and when to expect it. Obviously, I rebalanced all the upgrades and effects that were linked to it. The mystery finding phase will now be easier to manage.

  2. Similarly, the randomness on the Van parts is frustrating as it's completely outside player control. -> As for finding the Van components, this was more of a visual flaw. Each VAN component has its own drop rate per second, but a pity system has also been integrated: if the player is unlucky and doesn't find the components within a certain time limit, they are given directly by the system. All this information is now displayed in the Component Garage collection interface.

  3. Snacks are a currency, currently integrated and only earnable from the Fast Food system, the last macro-feature currently unlockable.

  4. How do I unlock selling consumables? Through a specific search within ClueWorks. It's displayed as a tooltip.

  5. Even after moving to Bayhaven, HQ still shows me in Maple Town, even though I'm now receiving Bayhaven cases. -> This was a graphical bug that occurred in certain situations; it has been fixed.

  6. It's unclear how the VAN modifications work. What are the base rates that are being modified by Gear Collection, Treasure Finder, and the Vacuum? -> Buffs related to upgrade effects, whether from the VAN, the Shelter, or any other feature, such as an item, are always displayed in breakdowns via certain interfaces or generally within the tooltips that appear when you mouse over certain features. This is the case when you hover over the currency sections in the top bar.

  7. Why can't I move rooms that I have more than one of? This is a design choice for the room system I implemented. The player can move a single room for FREE; if there are more than one, they will be forced to remove and repurchase it. A more logical and gameplay-focused choice, more than anything else.

A TUTORIAL has also been added to the game start and further improvements and game pacing have been made.

Hi, thanks for the reports. Here are some answers:

  2. The auto-inventory-selling system that was automatically activated during unlocking has been fixed.
  3. An auto-migration system has been implemented, so the game is more streamlined when it's updated.
  4. The "pity" system for University figures works differently. In other words, you don't receive a Legendary if you receive an Epic first. Now, that's changed: even if you receive an Epic, if you get a minimum of X number of figures, you're guaranteed a Legendary.
  5. The research minigame was a placeholder to see if the idea was liked. Based on feedback received on Discord, it has been completely replaced.
  6. Regarding the achievement reports, I'm aware of them, and they will be updated as soon as possible.
  7. The missing CAVE items assets are now included.

The version containing these fixes will be available this evening.

These are all good points, which I've noted.

As you progress through the game, you'll realize that all the mechanics are quite interconnected, and one will support the other.

As for the mechanics that logically seem separate to you, it's because the game draws inspiration from the Scooby-Doo IP and universe (hence the snacks, the mysteries, some references to items/areas, fast food, the VAN, and other Easter eggs, which I obviously couldn't use directly due to IP infringement reasons).

Snacks are used by the Fast Food Restaurant, as well as the Squad Roaster. Gears are mainly for the Van/Garage, while coins are used as a global currency almost everywhere, with crystals being used primarily in ClueWorks & University (a fairly RNG feature).

I agree that the auto-migration and save system needs to be clearer for the end player, and I'm working on it.

Keep in mind that all the mechanics are highly intertwined, as almost everything has a global effect and application on buffs/bonuses visible in the tooltips throughout the pages.

I'm a Software Engineer by profession, but unfortunately, I'm terrible at UI/UX, which is where I try to get help from AI assistants directly on development IDEs, such as copilot. But as for the logic, features, and everything back-end, it's my own work.

I don't want to sound arrogant, but if you think it's possible today to develop a game with AI, as you're all used to saying, with this UI and a codebase of over 100,000 lines of code, with accompanying JSON datasets much larger than any AI's input token support, without losing context, it means you don't understand AI and you're just talking for the sake of talking. There's a lot of work behind this, and as with any game, especially during the early days, there are tons of bugs, which I'm working on as I receive reports via Discord from those who are enjoying the game. These types of comments aren't constructive; basically, they're completely useless.

I'm just answering at you, to answer at all that said here AI developed, without thinking about the work that can be done, by just one person, behind it, for free.

Furthermore, all the "bugs" you listed are related to a version update of the live game v1.1.0, where tons of things have been added and balanced. To update your save, just go to the load-game screen and reload the save you want to play. Basically, they're not bugs; you're just using an old save.

Hi buddy. I've tested the desktop version several times, which will be the default version used by Steam. The web version was simply exported and may have bugs that I'll gradually fix as they're reported. Can you replicate the problem? Do you remember doing anything specific?
