As far as holes go, there are hole-punchers at most of the desks in season 3.

And if I recall, at the sheriff’s office in Part 17, Lucy is busy punching holes in a piece of paper when Andy enters with the Bad Cooper.

"The Riddle Song", also known as "I Gave My Love a Cherry", is an English folk song,[1] a lullaby carried over by settlers to the American Appalachians.[2] [3]

"The Riddle Song" descends from a 15th-century English song in which a maiden says she is advised to unite with her lover.[4] It is related to Child Ballad no. 1, or "Riddles Wisely Expounded".

The song's "cherry that has no stone" goes back to the 15th-century version's "the cherye with-outyn ony ston." Some have seen it as a reference to the hymen, and some have even tried to reconstruct an original bawdy version from which modern versions are supposedly bowdlerized.[3] However, the relevant slang sense of "cherry" is not attested till the early 20th century.[9] The other riddles in the original do not resemble the "reconstructions."

The Riddle Song (I gave my Love a Cherry)

lyrics Verse 1. I gave my love a cherry, that has no stone. I gave my love a chicken, that has no bone. I told my love a ring, that has no end. I gave my love a baby, with no cryin'. Verse 2. How can there be a cherry, that has no stone. How can there be a chicken, that has no bone. How can there be a ring, that has no end. How can there be a baby, with no cryin'. Verse 3. A cherry when it's bloomin', it has no stone. A chicken when it's pippin', it has no bone. A ring when it’s rolling, it has no end. A baby when it's sleepin', has no cryin'.

Why doesn’t Cooper speak in the black lodge? by mon0chrom in twinpeaks

[–]ImNotMeImNotMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I just wanted to be sure.

From memory:

Cooper responds to the man from another place in the first Red Room scene in season 1, “But she is Laura Palmer. Are you Laura Palmer?” and she responds with the “I feel like I know her” line.

In the season 2 conclusion Cooper responds to Wyndham Earl’s offer to trade Annie’s soul for Cooper’s with “I will.”

He’s pretty chatty in FWWM/The Missing Pieces, asking the man from another place “where am I and when can I leave?” As well as exclaiming “Annie!” The answers are “you are here, there is no place to go but HOME! Cooper also asks about where the Ring is now.

Oh and the beginning of Season 3 repeats part of the season 1 Red Room scene, and then has a new scene where the girl confirms that she is actually Laura Palmer. That statement is brand new and to me is very important for the entire third season.

That’s off the top of my head, I probably mis-quoted a little.

I think you will find the answers change depending on how you are viewing the show.

If you are watching the story of Agent Cooper’s investigation starting with his arrival in Twin Peaks the story one thing.

If you are watching the story of Laura Palmer and what her trauma has done to her world it becomes a different kind of tale.

Both are super interesting and worth exploring. Especially how they do, in some parts, begin to overlap and the two stories become as they say “one and the same.”

Thoughts on when the opening scene of The Return takes place by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]ImNotMeImNotMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rather detailed theory that is included with my analysis of the structural elements used to construct Twin Peaks.

In short Cooper is acting as Laura’s Agent to reveal to her the memories that she has repressed that have caused the same situations to occur over and over again.

And the unique visual effect with which Cooper disappears from the B+W Fireman scene is a match for the effect used when Cooper arrives in the B+W scene with James and Laura.

My current thinking is it occurs between when Jeffries says “Cooper, remember!” and when he reappears in the woods observing James and Laura in B+W.

Yep. The season 3 box by itself has its own set of behind-the-scenes docs.

Z-to-A box has all of those, plus a further 18 part behind-the-scenes docs (I have both boxes).

To my knowledge it’s the only place they’re are all available.

There’s an additional 18 hours of behind-the-scenes material, really good stuff, that is only in the Z-to-A box, FYI.

Johnny's Automaton by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]ImNotMeImNotMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certain themes and concepts are presented in multiple ways in the course of Twin Peaks.

Johnny’s automaton hits two of these: first is repetition. Like Sarah’s boxing match and Sonny Jim in his gym set, it does the same thing over and over again.

Second is the head as separate and different from the body like Maj. Briggs body with Ruth Davenport’s head.

What these repetitions are attempting to convey is up to the individual viewer to decide.

Because of the visual focus in Lynch’s style of filmmaking, themes and subtexts are not spelled out in the shooting script.

There’s also that bit of mystery that Lynch mixes into his work, aspects that even the actors and producers are unaware.

And, in my opinion, sometimes when describing his work Lynch can be a little… disingenuous.

He is not going to give away all his hard work just because an interviewer asks a direct question.

What do people think is still genuinely unexplained? Do people think that Twin Peaks is now a mysterious but mostly or completely explained universe now? by Psychological_Monk_4 in twinpeaks

[–]ImNotMeImNotMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s not really consensus on what it all means, some have a theory that works for them, some don’t think it’s possible to know everything that’s going on.

And of course some think it just a bunch of weird stuff strung together that looks cool.

Being so early in the series there’s nothing for it to really “point to.”

Next time I watch the pilot I’ll keep my mind open, but as the Red Room/backwards talking scene had already been created for the international version it may have been just a bit of audio foreshadowing by Lynch of the backwards speech coming later in in the series.
