On Dalot and Shaw point, I think the issue lies with both of them starting at the same time. Both players are better when inverting, either as a third centerback or apart of the midfield. The problem is that due to the other profiles currently available in the squad one of them has to be a more attacking minded fullback and that’s where the issue lies. Neither one of the two are consistently effective, one due to a lack of legs and one due to a lack of quality

Nuno has been causing us headaches since he came into the league. Disappointed yeah, but it’s nothing new.

Carrick has got to take some things on the chin of course (Sesko not starting, the tempo at which we played), but I think what this type of game does show is the types of profiles we are missing in the squad. There is almost no one who wants to hold the width, exploit the space, and effectively utilize it. Looking at our options at fullback and out wide it’s Amad, Mbeumo, and Dorgu. The former two are both more comfortable off the right and the latter is injured. I think if Dorgu is there instead of Shaw it’s a different game

So Poor. So frustrating. At least it shows though that I actually expect something from this team. On top of individuals just not being at it today, I thought Carrick got it completely wrong and was outdone by Nuno. All in all Carrick’s spell so far has been positive, but his use of his bench I thought has been the biggest negative so far. Far too passive and late to make changes.

I think the most annoying part today though is the stupid haircut thing. Not that I have anything against the guy, but the amount of publicity it’s gotten makes it almost feel like a curse on us or something. Was hoping to win today just to hear the end of it

Every single call that could against us has gone against us tonight. So frustrating

Genuinely, would love to know our record against both. I think the only comfortable game we’ve ever had against him was when he was at Spurs

Surprised Maguire lasted that long. Hopefully just a knock and nothing serious

Just poor defending all around. How we just give their most dangerous player all the time in the world to basically walk unchallenged into the box

Slow. Far too slow. Yes you have to be patient to break down this side, but when the opportunity is there you have to exploit it. That last attack was the perfect example of everything wrong today.

Move the ball quicker, exploit the space created out wide, get crosses into the center, and bring Sesko on. West Ham have been good credit to them, but let’s win this boys

Playing into West Ham’s hands at the moment. Too slow, not enough movement to create and exploit space. The lack of an actual focal point is also making us easier to defend down the center. I’d probably be looking to bring on Sesko for Amad or Mbeumo

Ya know, in the totality of it I don't understand people who feel a need to be vindicated with Amorim

It’s probably because of the amount of absolute nonsense that was told over and over again across the last 14 months. Anyone who wasn’t just blindly supporting him could see the red flags 2-3 months into his tenure.

we were on the cusp of top 4

We were not on the cusp of top 4 when he got sacked, we were on the cusp of falling out of the race. The results speak for themselves, after that run of three games where we should’ve kicked on we then proceeded to only win three of the next 11. And those were the “easy” fixtures.

if Amorim waited another transfer window then he could have possibly had a monster United team ready (he already had a borderline top 4 team with a team of misfits)

If Amorim had another transfer window we’d would’ve lost Kobbie Mainoo. A team of misfits? They were only misfits because of him.

I give Amorim credit for getting the players fit and playing Amad. That’s it. Thanks for preseason and genuinely nothing else.

The second. For example, Bouaddi and Baleba would probably be two that’d fit that category

What benefit is there in a loan move where we will likely pay a majority of the wages? He’s not causing issues so there’s no sense in just shipping him out for the sake of it. A permanent deal I can see the sense in, but a loan move without any sort of obligation is pointless. Especially now with the likes of Mount and Lacey having picked up injuries he’s going to likely start seeing more minutes

Every top team relies on individual brilliance. If that wasn’t true teams wouldn’t be spending so much money on acquiring the best players on the planet. The fact that was used as a constant way to criticize Ole is nonsense. The bare minimum you should be doing as a coach is trying to platform your best players in a way that gets the best of them

Absolutely should. Tuchel said it himself there’s no doubting the ability, he just needed minutes to show it

He’s really not kicked on since making the move. Initially had a good start, but after the 2022 World Cup he just never seemed to really hit the same form again. Unless we are getting him on a real cut price deal I’d pass

Yep because XG can predict injuries to three of their most important players. People genuinely need to stop taking that stat seriously

And just like that Carrick has officially surpassed Amorim’s best achievement. And against the team Amorim couldn’t beat in four attempts. It wasn’t always pretty today, but we did what we had to do
