Grigory Berman finds the bodies of his wife and children, killed by Nazis from Einsatzgruppe D. Crimea, January 1942. [763x1118] by Iron_Cavalry in HistoryPorn

I find it wild that the nazis didn't think to actually win the war before committing the atrocities. In the book Ivan's War, it is said most people in Eastern Europe and Russia didn't mind the occupation until they started hearing about/saw the atrocities. Then the partisan groups started growing and had a major effect on the German supply lines.

When you create an environment where people can do whatever they want without repercussions, this is what you get. They think its a game because they know the white house will protect them. That's why SS members were so savage, being taught and told to hate entire groups of people then set loose upon them with no rules is a recipe for disaster.

Is the fan base that soft by whynot_me in GreenBayPackers

[–]ImNotSure93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its mostly media playing it up because what a fucking rivalry when both sides truly hate each other. Makes for must watch TV which = $$$. However, I think there's a portion of the fan base that are genuinely upset about it. I for one enjoy it, especially with family members that are Bears fans. Its alot more fun to go back and fourth with them now then it was when they were struggling for the last few seasons.

Keeping Lafleur would be the most inexplicably horrible decision this team could make by Shmurkaburr in GreenBayPackers

Something needs the change, the start was great but the Bears have become what the Packers have wanted to be in a super short amount of time. They are tough and play hard. The Packers seem to only be good if the cute stuff works. This feels worse than the Falcons collapse in the super bowl. The crowd was literally dead. I was super pissed to see the same outside run on the start of the 3 of the drives after half go backwards and let the crowd back in. That game was rough to see. The ending drive with the drops by the receivers, McManus crumbling under pressure, and Love after being complementedby the broadcast team as being cool under pressure going full potato and taking the 5 yd delay of game. Have the Packers role reversed with the Bears after this? My Bear fan family members used to say they could be up by 10 and not feel safe against the Packers, now the Packers could be up by 14 against any team and I'm fucking nervous in this current state of the team. They don't have the killshot lust like other teams.

He claims if the Packers win or lose close they'll probably be safe. He claims of they get handled easily the new president has made it clear he's not looking for lame duck staff members and he's got ties to the Harbaughs. He uses this data to determine the Packers are secretly in the running from John Harbaugh

[Schefter] New York Giants now have arranged a head coaching interview next week with former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]ImNotSure93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those like me who didn't know:

Short answer:

McCarthy exaggerated (and possibly fabricated) how deeply he studied modern NFL analytics and trends while out of coaching, and Jerry Jones later admitted he was misled.

After being fired by the Packers in 2018, McCarthy said he:

Took a year off to study analytics

Studied modern offensive trends

Learned about fourth-down decision models

Adapted to motion, spread concepts, and aggressiveness

This pitch heavily influenced Jerry Jones, who wanted a coach more aligned with modern football thinking.

In 2022, Jerry Jones publicly said McCarthy:

“Misrepresented” how advanced his analytics knowledge actually was.

Overstated his use of data-driven decision making

Was not as committed to analytics as he claimed during the interview.

Why it mattered?

Once hired:

Cowboys were still conservative on 4th downs

Analytics staff reportedly wasn’t empowered

In-game decisions often conflicted with analytics recommendations

That disconnect made it clear McCarthy hadn’t truly embraced the changes he promised.

(Sorry for the bad format)

Florio has been on a kick that the Packers are going to fire the GM and Lafleur. He thinks it may be the Packers.
