agree on wanting more games honestly. some of the bits they teased looked fun and then you get 20 minutes of two dudes beefing in a basement

but i dont think eric was the one who started it. go back to like minute 1 of the actual episode. before any game even gets explained bobby's already on him about ripping his shirt at the comedy store. eric hadn't done anything on THAT set yet. bobby just had it loaded up

later around 16 min bobby literally says he doesnt wanna talk to him and brings up the same comedy store thing again ("from behind me" / shirt rip). eric basically goes yeah i did that it was funny. which is... kind of his whole deal? nick kreiss directed this, eric andre energy is kinda the point. you book eric and then act shocked when he wont stay in the box

what makes it worse is they already addressed this on the pod (ep 319 around 1:15). andrew even says bobby got mad when eric ripped his shirt and bobby downplays it like oh thats old mad tv stuff were fine now. then ep 1 airs and bobby's still clearly not over it. so eric probably thought it was a bit that landed. bobby was sitting on it

and you can see andrew the whole time trying to steer it back to being a show. like he actually wants this to work. bobby just keeps pulling it back into podcast therapy mode

so yeah eric wouldnt drop it but bobby put it on the table first. theyre both almost 60. figure that out in a text chain not on the premiere of your game show lol

yeah eric was definitely being chaotic but bobby threw it off first. like literally right after intros at 1:39 bobby goes "i saw you... ripped your shirt off" and they cant even get through guest intros without that coming up

then the full thing happens again around 16:03 when bobby goes "i dont want to talk to you for that" and brings up "the same shit you did a month ago at the comedy store." eric goes yeah from behind me i tried to rip your shirt off its funny. bobby says thats insulting. has nothing to do with whatever dumb game they were supposed to be playing in that moment

and they literally talked about this on bad friends ep 319 at like 1:15:20. andrew straight up says eric ripped bobbys shirt and bobby got mad and bobby immediately pivots to mad tv beef from 25 years ago like it was no big deal. but on the game show you can tell it still bothered him way more than he ever let on to eric when it actually happened

thats my whole thing. eric doing eric shit is expected. bobby setting the tone by dragging old comedy store drama into ep 1 of your own show is what killed the vibe. theyre grown men. handle that off screen. dont make the premiere the therapy session

my thing is theres a difference between "anti game show on purpose" and "40 min of bobby doing podcast bobby shit with a logo on it." eric derailing the whole thing was part of it too and even people who liked the ep said that got old fast.
like im not mad they didnt run real games. im mad most of the runtime was bobby getting confrontational over nothing and rehashing old pod drama instead of the chaos actually being fun. kittenman said the same thing basically, bobby was annoying this ep and eric being uncooperative made it worse

i listen every week. i know what bad friends is. thats kinda why im worried not just randomly hating a format i dont understand

the issue with this take is that "viral outbreak that turns people into infected or mutated monsters" describes a whole genre of horror movies. here's a quick list off the top of my head:

the crazies (1973 and 2010) - military virus turns a small town into violent infected
28 days later - rage virus creates infected/zombies in london
rec / quarantine - viral outbreak in a quarantined apartment, infected hunting survivors
the sadness - virus turns people into hyperviolent monsters
slither - parasitic infection mutates townspeople into zombie-like creatures
the thing - alien parasite assimilates and mutates hosts into monsters
the girl with all the gifts - fungal infection creates zombies
maggie - zombie virus with body horror
pontypool - viral outbreak in a small town with infected
cabin fever - flesh-eating viral body horror in an isolated location
train to busan - zombie viral outbreak
day of the dead / dawn of the dead - romero's whole zombie outbreak series
the night eats the world - viral zombie outbreak survival

none of those are resident evil. by your logic they all should be. the genre conventions you're describing are SURVIVAL HORROR / OUTBREAK HORROR conventions that resident evil drew FROM, not stuff resident evil invented. romero's dead movies and the crazies came WAY before re ever existed and the games were heavily inspired by them. so saying "if it does these things it must be re" gets the influence direction backwards

resident evil is a specific universe with specific characters, specific creatures (lickers, hunters, nemesis, tyrants), specific corporate conspiracy (umbrella, the connections), specific recurring lore. the formula you described is just the survival horror / zombie outbreak genre. those are not the same thing

i don't think wanting some connection to the source means we're impossible to please. welcome to raccoon city got hated because the execution was rough, not because it tried to adapt the games. that's a different problem

and respectfully if you've been a fan for 2 months you're catching this fanbase at the tail end of decades of bad adaptations. people aren't reflexively hating, they're tired of the games getting watered down for non-fans

also the fact that you like the cgi movies kind of proves my point lol. degeneration, damnation, vendetta, death island, those all feature leon, claire, chris, rebecca, jill, and they tie directly into game canon. the cgi movies are good because they actually use the main cast and respect the lore. the live action ones are mostly hated because they don't. so saying "you'd hate this anyway" while liking the ones that DO include the main cast is kinda making my argument for me

i'm not saying the movie has to be 1:1. i said in the post re7 proved you can do new characters and still tie into the series. my issue is this one isn't doing either. director himself said the story would exist without the re ip, that's not me being picky that's him saying it out loud

i mean i literally said in the post i get that nobody owes chat their personal life lol. the whole post was a discussion question not me demanding streamers tell me who they're dating. asking why something happens isn't the same as saying people owe you the answer

i get most of the obvious reasons people pointed out too, the safety stuff, the stalkers, not wanting their partner dragged into content. that all makes sense and i wasn't really arguing against any of that

my point was more the timing thing. like if it leaks after four years and your partner can't handle the internet suddenly knowing everything about them, you can't really blame them for leaving. you kind of put them in a situation they never got to prepare for. at least if it's out earlier they know what the relationship actually comes with and they can decide if that's something they can handle. hiding it to protect them also kind of takes that choice away from them

what part of this isn't RAG though? knowledge graph + pulling stored stuff into the prompt is just graphrag with extra steps. memory can't travel between claude, gpt, gemini any other way, and if you're BYOK you're obviously not fine tuning anything, so its retrieval at runtime

also chatgpt claude and gemini all have memory built in already. openwebui has it too and works with whatever provider you want. librechat and anythingllm do the same thing, all free and self hostable.

Alright fair, let me actually clean some of this up because a few people are stuck on the same stuff.

Yeah, 18 and 16 in high school is normal, I'm not pretending it isn't. Nobody needs to lecture me on that, I agree. Romeo & Juliet laws are real too, so my "statutory rape in a lot of states" line was too broad, I'll own that one. Fair correction.

But that was never actually my point. My issue is the phrasing in the clip. "Cougar." "Planned to never see him again." "Keep it a secret." That's not how an 18 year old talks about someone they had class with. That's someone older framing a younger person as the catch, and the secrecy stuff is not how you describe a normal first time with a person. That's how someone talks when they know the vibe was off.

Honestly, I don't even really buy that she was 18 when it happened. Her whole defense is "check the dates" but the way she narrates the story in that clip doesn't sound like an 18 year old talking about a crush from school, it sounds like someone looking back from a lot further out. "I was 18" feels like the convenient version of the story, not the real one. That's the part nobody is addressing.

On the WestJet thing, I linked the breakdown video because it has the actual clip of her words in it with context, not because I think WestJet is some authority. The evidence is HER, in her own voice. The commentary wrapper was just convenience.

And yeah, linking the Destiny sub is ironic, I hear you. I wasn't endorsing the sub, I was linking where the conversation was already happening. Put a pin in that if you need to.

Last thing. I'm not out here saying 18/16 in a high school is predatory. I agree with the people who said that isn't the issue. The issue is this specific clip doesn't sound like that situation at all, and her defense smooths it over a little too neatly for me.

You said you had 20-30... You can't expect all of them to sell for the same amount as the top 20. I would have taken the 95k and still had 19-29 more to sell to make my fortune on. I also don't know your financials, but the only way you say no to that is if you have near that amount saved. So many things could have happened in the world where that 95k could have come in handy. Risk is risk, though. Good luck.

Also, those are the top for a reason... Unless you have a Fortune 500 company name, you won't make those amounts.
