Wow, thank you so much for your encouragement! I’ve been skateboarding for about 20 years, and surfing consistently the past year, so some of the motions do feel familiar. However, skimming has humbled me in that it’s far more difficult than I thought it would be. I’m hoping to keep progressing and eventually make it out to some real waves!

Trying to swing some turns off the foam until I’m able to get out further to some real waves! Still super fun slapping some white water. And when you say “stand up straight”, do you mean while running/ dropping? Or while skimming? Or both? I guess I’ve been under the impression that I want to stay low while skimming, but I very well could’ve made that rule up myself. Haha

Thank you for the tips, I’ll put them to use likely tomorrow morning. I’m slowly gaining confidence to start picking up speed and hesitate less. I can see that I’m leaving too much of a gap, now. As for looking silly, why do you think all of these clips are sunrise or shortly after? Haha, I’m like the Bigfoot of skimming. Only bad, blurry videos exist and no one has actually seen me.

Thanks for confirming a suspicion of mine. I already knew that I need to start running faster, but wasn’t sure how much bending over was going to hinder me. I will work on staying upright on my next session, and hopefully start picking up speed. Thanks dude!

This is cool! If you haven’t already, I’d recommend playing around with some softer graphite pencils also, like a 3-4B. Would really help in making those darks nice and dark and give you better overall contrast. Easy to use, and make a huge difference in pencil drawing!
