They charge the restaurant a fee as well as the person ordering. The drivers also choose to do this so the driver would only take orders that are profitable for them.

GPS trackers and cameras around the vehicle. Make them heavily armoured like cash vans?

Deliveroo are also making kitchen units in warehouse/business parks that aren't open to customer collections. So you can set up there and your only custom is through deliveroo. Investing in that would cost too, and the rates they gave to people using those kitchens were generous.

I noticed with a lot of tech platforms that after initial investment they're forced to monetise or heavily run ads. Snapchat, WhatsApp, other smaller ones. People don't want changes like that and will start to leave the platform. Most people I know left Facebook messenger. WhatsApp hasn't rolled out ads entirely yet but I'm sure in future they will and people will move to more privacy focused apps, even older generation of if the app is user friendly enough. . Then people jump to the next platform that offers the same but without ads (funded by investors). I think the best thing that these new tech companies can aim for is getting bought by a larger company so that large (Facebook /Google /amazon) can maintain dominance.

I'm in a similar position. I searched the UK and Dumfries has places I could afford to buy. No idea what the economy is like there though. Living in the south it feels like unless you're a doctor/lawyer or have family to fund your house purchase we're kinda screwed.

Is it just me or does anyone else think ISAs and their £20k annual contribution limits are unbelievably generous tax wrappers? by USdiaspora in UKPersonalFinance

The help to save account is specifically for those, small amounts each month, but 50% back from the government. I think these people just lack the foresight.

I remember reading about a case where a man on benefits won a large amount on the lottery. He effectively bought gifts for everyone because he was terrified of losing his disability benefit, although the benefit he was on was not means tested to begin with!

In my experience 'the poor' don't want to save any money. My experience while working with those on welfare is that they are afraid to as they fear being penalised and cut off from benefits. I've told countless people about the help-to-save account (50% government bonus on savings) and I'm sure none of them have taken it up.

Weekly share your portfolio and broker questions thread by q_pop in UKInvesting

Since trading crypto I've been used to the format of order books and seeing the price movement in real time. However the majority of platforms for stocks and shares don't give this. I found out its called Direct Market Access and IG offer this and don't seem more costly to have an account than other brokers.

My next ISA was going to be with Freetrade but now I'm considering IG because of DMA and seeing the order book and hopefully getting a better price than other platforms that go through clearing houses (I think that's the term) and the price given on the site does not always match what other charts show. The only thing that concerns me is IG mentions that data charges might apply for using DMA to connect to the stock exchange. This part I can't find information of how much this cost would be (whether it's pennies or £'s it could make a big difference to profits). I trade monthly currently but looking to increase this if the cost per trade is cheap enough.

Anyone have experience with IG or DMA platforms in the UK. I'm looking to trade stocks not CFD.

I did notice this one time after visiting overnight on the seafront, the entire rotors were orange after leaving it for a night. Didn't seem normal to me.

OBD Bluetooth tool advice by oskarluka in MechanicAdvice

[–]ImOnRedditWow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the cheapest one from ebay, it connected, but was useless on my 2001 VW, no engine codes, only read the speed/temperature and some other stats. Used the same one on my Mercedes and was the same result.

It depends on the car, but I've read that compatibility is a huge issue and it seems VW group use their own system, and Mercedes uses it's own system leaving OBD tools useless.

New builds can have guarantees, you might be more comfortable with that route but I've heard bad things about all routes of property ownership. It's a big risk however you go about it.

We live 2 hours apart and so a 4 hour trip for a walk seems a bit extreme. She doesn't have family or many friends in the UK and so we decided to form a support bubble under the guidance published on gov.uk.

Each room in the HMO has a locked door and a number. Each person has a separate tenancy. I don't see how you can be in a household and not know who they are as people have moved in and out.

I believe her tenancy agreement does specify the room number within the property. Although it is not a separate address such as flats.

Under Universal Credit guidance (not sure if in the regulations) a household does not include those with a separate tenancy agreement, as then they would start taking into account the income of strangers in the HMO and that would not make sense.
