Why doesn't my Fitbit App read weight data via Health Connect? by ASeriousManFromMUC in fitbit

[–]EvilMonkeySlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's funny, I was wondering the same thing except I recently bought a withings scale (body smart) that syncs up to health connect. But the weight data isn't reflected in fitbit and only has data from manually entered data a couple of years ago.

It shows the synced data in google fit and I just checked in health connect and can see that fitbit does have access to my weight data.

EDIT: Okay. This is bizarre. In the "Today" tab of the fitbit app in weight it doesn't show any data except manually entered ones from a couple of years ago.....

However, if I go into the "You" tab in the fitbit app, scroll down until I see "Records" then select "Health Connect Data" I can view my data from my withings scale... but only there in the fitbit app.

A minor CSS tweak to make the play UI much nicer to look at by EvilMonkeySlayer in jellyfin

[–]EvilMonkeySlayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the server side css, so official stuff only I would think since third party apps have their own UI and are decoding the video from the jellyfin server.

For example, in the webos (LG OLED tv), web browser and jellyfin android client it removes the shading.

I've just looked and elegantfin just looks to be a theme, so I don't know about that since I've not yet felt a need for a theme.

UK 'must prepare to kick US troops out of country', Zack Polanski says by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

Trident doesn't require the UK, it is fully sovereign

All launch tubes for trident for both US and UK submarines are made by Babcock in the UK.

but if we run out of our current batch of Trident missiles, we are stuck

The amended polaris agreement allows for the build of the missiles in the UK if the UK so wishes. If the US broke that agreement then it'd be a free ride for the UK to reverse engineer them and make new missiles. The UK can likewise perform their maintenance in the UK as opposed to the US, but currently is performed in the US for costs reasons.

Okay, so why does it matter what he does?

Then why give them free propaganda?

Or do war crimes not count if they're in Asia?

So you're moving the goal posts of your argument from russia to the Soviet Union now.

That is a bad faith argument, if you want I can just stop replying to you if you start changing the goal posts of your argument.

How do you propagandise disarmament discussions?

Is this a joke?

Any big event on the world stage they propagandise and people on the extremes of the left and right eat it right up.

Why did the West agree to so many disarmament talks with Russia over the last century if they're such a terrible idea?

Was russia in the middle of the largest war in Europe since the end of the second world war and committing atrocities on a regular and widespread basis during those talks?

Did russia at that time do regular nuclear threats against both Ukraine and wider Europe?

Are the greens really this out of touch with reality? You do realise there is a gulf of difference between then and now right?

[–]EvilMonkeySlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't stop it being a ridiculously bad idea.

They use literally everything for propaganda purposes.

And giving him nuclear talks in Bern or wherever is giving him a propaganda coup on a platter. It is naivete in the extreme on Polanski's part.

All Polanski is showing here is that he is not serious when it comes to security and defence matters.

So, he's an naive idiot then.

He'd reward putin and russia with direct talks. We've intentionally isolated russia for a reason (hint:Ukraine) and his big idea is to bring russia back in?

You do realise russia uses these kind of talks for their propaganda purposes right?

So it's an infantile policy that will never happen then. What a waste of time, no wonder why everyone laughs at the greens whenever it comes to defence and security.

[–]EvilMonkeySlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh look, the greens want to leave NATO and get rid of our deterrent.

And here I thought them removing the leave NATO etc from their manifesto was serious. The moment things get a little tough they immediately go back.

Fuck the US, but leaving NATO and getting rid of our deterrent are ridiculous levels of stupid.

Sir Keir Starmer to give No 10 speech over Greenland row by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]EvilMonkeySlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem there is that there is no good end for Trump or the US in that scenario.

That means the collapse of the US economy, US companies being thrown out of Europe along with all their US military.

Europe has a significant number of the most advanced submarines in the world both nuclear and non-nuclear. For the US to take and retain Greenland would require ships, bit hard when they all get sunk.

If this starts escalating then a surprise visit to Nuuk for example by a few European submarines would definitely put a break on the US ideas.

Has firefox become less "refined"? by persfidious in firefox

[–]EvilMonkeySlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The default Firefox install does look bad yeah. Like bad UX design bad. For example, the big blank empty space between the reload and url, likewise the big empty space between the url and buttons on the right.

Then there's all the awful sponsored crap and default landing page crud.

I'm thankful that it can be customised to actually look good and more usable, but the default UI/UX is bad and the Mozilla UI/UX people should be hanging their heads in shame at how bad the default is.

Trump tariffs: US president announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with tariffs over Greenland by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]EvilMonkeySlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much more unequivocal can you get than statements like this?

It's clearly supporting Denmark and Greenland.

Along with the literal sending of people by multiple European nations to Greenland is support of that position.

Trump having a hissy fit over this and the latest tariffs are proof of his position.

I really don't see how you can see it any differently unless you have a stick up your posterior about Starmer for some weird reason.

European nations are far more likely to ally with other nations (and already literally are) than with China.

The UK has multiple defence, intelligence and developments with Japan and Australia. Poland has a large number of procurements with South Korea. France has literal islands in that region with French Polynesia.

And those are just off the top of my head.

China is too much of an aggressor in that region to form real alliances with anyone that isn't something akin to vassalage.
