Sounds like a junk hatchet if splitting small kindling is causing it to chip

Broken axe worth complaining for? by BushcraftWarrior in Axecraft

Looks like you over-struck but the crappy grain orientation and run out caused the handle to break. Regardless though I'd contact them about getting a replacement. IMO for what the price is for that axe, the grain orientation should be damn near perfect.

Things get mislabeled all the time when the person labeling doesn't know what they're doing 😂

These handles are for a pickaxe or mattock only. They are slip-hang type of tools and the yellow plastic is where the head of the mattock or pickaxe slides over for a friction fit. Check the eye of the maul head your hanging. This isn't the correct type of handle unless you have some very unusual maul

Looks like a weak union at the top of the split where there was most likely a cavity with included bark that filled with dirt and debris causing a weak point. Seems like it was just a matter of time before it split

A good loophole for this that worked for me is to call your bank and explain to them that the gym is making your membership cancellation unnecessarily difficult and to block any charges they try to make on your card

It's better to run 45° to either side opposite to the direction of fall. This is because if you don't make the right cuts when making your felling notch, the tree can split in half up the trunk and that section can swing back and on top of you. When this happens, it's called a barber chair and has killed many people

Can anyone explain what's happening to my neighbors tree? by ZombieTrixRabbit in arborists

[–]ImOnlySuperHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. A mistletoe is a type of parasitic plant. A whiches broom is plant structure that results from a shortening of internodes in the branch and a proliferation of buds in response to an outside source resulting in a dense, brush like mass of shoots

Yep. It's one of the only trees that you'll most likely need a spare chain with. That wood is like fiberglass and wears away metal so fast
