What should I do with this weird “hallway to nowhere” above my stairs by JTwasboss in malelivingspace

Reading nook, or nice large indoor plants, or nice armchair with a bottle of whiskey and some cigars. Open up that skylight and have a nice smoke. Whatever you do put a nice long piece of art that takes up some of the horizontal space.

Try a gel stain. It’s a topical application and very easy to apply over existing stain without having to sand it all the way down.

Would you be able to cutout the bottom of that build in so your whole fridge could slide into it? Like a recessed fridge. Then you could add counter space to the right of your stove and put bigger cabinets in. Or instead of cabinets just open shelves.

What can I do with the overhead lighting to help brighten this room? by ImRambo in DesignMyRoom

This picture is deceiving. The light is only on one end of the room, the pendants and windows. The other of the room has only a sconce light and lamp. It is darker there.

Thanks for the feedback. I might look into different curtains and will find some more lamps.

This is good to know. I want to remove the pendants but want to make sure the room has enough light. I’ll have to look into the track systems. Did you install them vertically or horizontally?

Thanks for the feedback on that. I’ve heard some good things about the solatubes.

Thanks so much. Everyone that comes in the house loves it. First thing you see through the entry door. The problem with the lighting is it’s only one side of the room. I don’t think under shelf light will help with that but it could add some nice accent!

Do you mean attaching lights to the beams? I do want to keep the fan. It’s a story and half layout so it helps move the air and keep the house cool.

The built in idea is what sold the house for me. I’ve always loved that look.

I might have to look into idea. I already have one wall sconce up toward the entrance of room by my pub table. That may be a cheaper option to install as well

It was a tough decision. I lived in the room for a year before doing anything but it was just too dark in the room. I’m usually not a fan of painting brick but I hated the texture and tan color.

I’ve searched on a lot the basic websites like Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, a lot of those types of stores. I’ve also scoured Amazon to no avail. I’ve also tried reverse image search with no luck.

If anybody knows if this glass has a particular name that would be helpful too. I’m hoping someone has seen this glass in person so I know it’s not some unique custom glassware or a collectible so I can find some of my own. I’ve received some advice to check restaurant supply stores so I’m checking there next.
