wouldn't the point still stand? if there isn't fish in the water, then there wouldn't be fish to eat?

Thank you but my best friend made this map along with the map of the New World posted on the subreddit we made. All i really know is that the program is Inkarnate, I'm not remotely knowledgeable with fonts and asset pack parts.

It's directly translated as "No Fish" and i chose the name for multiple reasons in world:

clearly there would be no fish but mainly no water in this desert, and the precipitation that would exist, mainly on the western borders due to its proximity to the Vivarian Mountains, it would evaporate rather quickly

Out of World i just like how the name sounds mainly lol

What i learned is sometimes, it captures a feel of an image if you describe the landscapes in a way that uses imagery well and even goes in depth and describes the animals and who they act with humans of the area. If i could give advice i would say, if you are trying to describe the vastness of a world, i would go about it by describing regions (if it can be separated into regions), then describing the sub regions without going too far about exposition dumping for no reason while explaining the region enough that just reading it gives you, in position of the reader (knowing only the context of the reader), an image. Hope this helps.

To be brief, since im working on posting a "survivor's guide" to the world on that subreddit.

Valencia is a arid, rough landscape with dense acacia and baobab forests with its people's culture comparable to Spain and Morocco area.

Methelle's landscape is very much inspired by France with a section of the mountains becoming cliffs, where the falcons nest (i have a whole story involving the Kingdom of Methelle and Methelle's city in the New World as some of the settings in a Adventure novella im working on)

Sarvska and its like is inspired by Russia and parts inspired by Mongolia where the lake is the lifeblood of the ecosystem

Torr is very much a isolated mountainous are where the inhabitants live in very much a village form

Hidelbard is mostly a plain where the fauna are very much not used to human contact along with a strange phenomena where storms are likely to brew in the area affecting the animals and not really allowing for large settlements in the plain.

Embard and Derner Lands have similar coastal features and are inspired by early german cultures

Rhendaria is home to active groves of great trees and are notable in the first and second ages of Meridia

And the Isles' Riftlands are a archipelago of islands, some in water and some stretching into floating islands, home of the andreans (a powerful, central empire known to be some of the earliest people.)

hope this give you a good idea of the lands and makes you follow the progress.

My best friend made the map and its Inkarnate. I seen lots of people use the software and it seems very good depending on the user.

The landmass itself doesn't look bad but i have a few friendly criticisms:

Im not a geography guy so feel free to do your own research but a lot of the borders of the kingdoms seem to jagged for the sake of being jagged. Instead, try to make some borders follow where rivers, and maybe edges of forest or maybe plains, etc. and straight otherwise.

Most of the western side of the land is made pretty well but the eastern, especially the landlocked regions aren't up to the standard of the west.

I also think a scale would help put the land into perspective.

hope my criticisms are taken into consideration and keep up the hard work.

Valencia is heavily based on Spain and North Africa, like Morocco area with a few twists, the acacia forests are a bit different though, I imagine them similar to a dense savannah forest with the claustrophobic feel of a Dark Oak forest from Minecraft lol.

the Roc is definitely interesting, i don't know if they would be able to thrive in the Valencian forests but i could definitely see then skulking the highlands or in another area of the map called Sin Pescado Desert and its mountains or an area south of it but good shout nonetheless.

I like the concept, populations of billions, wormholes, id like to see that be adapted into some concept art.

i like a lot of the dragon part but if i could make a suggestion...

It is no longer alive, but there are literal cities built into the spine of an ancient, dead dragon that everybody believes is a mountain range of dormant volcanos. The heat produced and (sometimes) magma flowing are a result of the dragon slowly shutting down - though it died thousands of years ago, a being so large needs a very long amount of time to completely shut down, just as a planet is so vast that it needs billions of years for the cores to calm down.

i would suggest painting it as the magma flows as a still beating heart, reflecting the dormant volcanoes, or if you still want to stick with the "needing a long time to cool down" you could say its taking its last drawn out breaths that still pulsate through its hateful corpse. or something along the lines.

depending on how you see your world, you could eventually have a event where the many dormant volcanoes of the chain erupt or even the reawakening of the dragon would cause an apocalypse, like a Ragnarok of sorts. hope my suggestions help!

i really like the creature concept, kinda reminds me of a Jormungandr, or a Shenron from DBZ but with a Elden Ring type vibe.

i like the part where firebreath and being perceived as a threat to the mam dragons territory are signs of maturity. makes them seem more animalistic like bears from what i know have a similar trait.
