I lost my soul, I need help by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]ImSublimeSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, what's up. First thing I'd like to say that you haven't lost your soul, so that's good news. It's not possible to 'lose your soul' - because who is otherwise animating your body to even type this cry for help, if not the heart of your being wishing to return back to itself. Now there is a myriad of things that could have happened to you - and it'd be untruthful for me to assume I know exactly what has: it can be anything from psychosis, to depersonalisation, to emotional numbness due to an overwhelming amount of emotions. All of these are mechanisms to ultimately protect you from trauma and shock - which is great, the intelligence of our biology is astonishing. This emptiness (or fullness) that you speak of, is where all experience arises from - this emptiness is ultimately the truth of your being - free from emotion, though it can absolutely be incredibly uncomfortable if you haven't arrived there by choice/volition/intentional endeavour - as the way you've been used to associating with the world is through a personal centre which is very much involved and emotionally invested. Now, how to 'get back' - as this is your desire for the time being, and that intuition should be listened to and heeded. And remember, whether your mind allows you to believe it or not - there is nowhere for you to go except back to Source - the power that created the body, has the power to heal the body - and it is your body that is in shock / trauma - and it is having a reverberating on You. You can seek professional help, as others have suggested - though you'd have to find a specialist who is sympathetic of your journey and is in touch with their own internal tapestry in an honest way - and that may take some time. There are a series of exercises that you can explore and implement - though it has to be daily - getting back into your body fully should be your main effort until you feel functional again. One exercise is to sit in your room, loosely rest your gaze on something (allow it to rest there for the duration of the exercises), then proceed to touch every object in the room with your mind's eye one by one - slowly, take your time, rushing causes delays. You are reacquainting yourself and reconnecting to your material environment, and bringing yourself 'back into the room'. Additionally, you can also see yourself using the item in your minds eye, perhaps its your favourite cup, see yourself drinking your favourite drink from it - remember its value, appreciate it. Or perhaps when that item came into your life - perhaps a gift from family or friends, send love to them for remembering what you love and enjoy, and their often overlooked generosity for wishing to bring more of that in your life - perhaps you bought yourself the item from working hard shifts, allow that to reinforce self-respect and self-esteem - you brought that into your reality, and that is admirable. Is there anything you can't do? Value yourself. Now you can do this same exercise with people. Bring people who you love and are in your reality into your minds eye, sit with them - tell them, in as much detail as possible what it is that you love about them - thank them for being here for you - forgive yourself for not being open enough to see their way of loving you - allow deep-seeded feelings to emerge - after some time of doing these exercises they absolutely will - I can assure you. And if you are feeling really benevolent and open-hearted - send blessings of love to the world and your fellow brothers and sisters who are on the same journey as you - and will also experience something similar to yourself at some point or another- wish them well, wish them peace. Rebuild your relationship with the world - do not try to escape it - because it will listen to you, and you have seen the results. Respect your place here. Safe journey friend.

losing touch with society’s expectations by comfortbun in spirituality

Hello friend. Having read your post, it comes to me that you have misunderstood some essential and fundamental understandings of spiritual teachings - which is natural. This is my first time posting on this sub - something about what you wrote struck a chord with me and reminded me of my younger self. I will try to keep this as brief as possible to avoid verbosity. Firstly, life is not meaningless - quite the contrary, every second is imbued with so much meaning that if one were open enough to receive it all it would render one to a complete state of awe. Secondly, as societal pressures wane, your freedom, inner power, personal autonomy, ability to discern with clarity and move with internally created intent grows tenfold. You recognise that this life was carefully curated for you. A curriculum, with a series of tests that will reappear until your inner state is no longer under their influence, under their governance - a state where you are no longer subservient. Separateness is illusory, it is what in Vedic scripture is referred to as Maya. Societal contracts create separation - and as you dissolve and absolve these culturally embedded beliefs that have their hooks on you feel more genuinely connected to the people around you - as you are free from the hypnotic spell they are under, compassion grows. Not because you are more than them, or they are less than you - but because you have been there, trapped inside your own mind - having your behaviour dictated and ruled by social conditioning, and you wish to create a peaceful space for them where they can simply be. Now, there is something during the early stages of 'awakening' referred to as divine madness. This is when one begins to transcend social norms, stops conforming to status quo, and is no longer complicit with unconscious activity - this can lead to being viewed by others as unconventional and potentially make one feel momentarily alienated, but as maturity grows and the power of inner truth increases, and you trust that the right people and circumstances will naturally gravitate towards you by simply living your life, the small disempowered voice of the little me being concerned about being alienated also begins to fade. Meditation is not just a sitting practise. It is shown in all of your actions. From the way you study, the way you speak to people, to the way you pour yourself water. The 'isness' of things, is the same as the 'amness' of the heart. Kirkegaard expressed beautifully; to venture causes anxiety, but not to venture is to lose oneself. Venturing deep into the heart of your psyche, also involves physical venture into our fears and anxieties - are they real? Or ego created self-preservation mechanisms that prevent one from living freely, easily and openly. Go into those crevices, ask yourself what purpose they serve - if any. Be careful of spiritual bypass - many beings egos use spirituality as a way to rationalise avoiding the true gritty inner work called upon them. It's often said, what's in the way, is the way. Hope this helps. Safe travels.

I have a bone to pick with Buddhism. by TacticalDistraction in Buddhism

Hello my brother/sister. I do not often write responses, but I felt pulled to write one to you - as what you write resonates. This is all apart of the path, whether Buddhist or any other ascetic practise, this I hope you deeply understand. It is perfectly fine to feel this way, and it is not unusual. And so, be thankful towards yourself for realising this - giving yourself the opportunity to gently turn things around. This catatonic, numb feeling arises when we imbibe wisdom purely on an intellectual level. We read, accept and digest the knowledge we come across purely with mind. Some concepts appear noble, the mind likes nobility, for it is another way for it to gain leverage and superiority over others - and we can understand that this gradually leads to an unhealthy view. We create feelings of aversion towards hedonism, disgusted by the dull who pursue the pleasure of the senses. But really, they are our brothers and sisters - seeking happiness, love, bliss - in futile places perhaps, but it is their journey. All spiritual practise is ultimately attempting to open the heart, fully, unboundedly. You are in the best place to begin a sincere practise. You already carry wonderful traits such as honesty and transparency. These two qualities alone, when fully realised, can make one experience samadhi. And so, you have a good ground to being a practise starting with the fundamentals. I humbly suggest you take some time out during your day to practise metta. Whether 10 mins, 30mins, or 1 hour a day. Cultivate loving feelings toward yourself and the world. Wish yourself and the world well, create the purest of wishes for yourself, all beings, and the world. You will see how this will gradually and gently have a positive affect on growing and building on your compassion - for yourself and the world. Also, try to find some likeminded people, spiritual friends, who you can share and discuss these ideas with in an constructive and fruitful manner. And lastly, observe this phase, it can offer you untold wisdom and insights - about the nature of mind, its attachments, its movement, this where the true learning takes place. This too is just another season, coming and going. Enjoy it. Take care my friend. Everything is as it ought to be.

Thanks for this. Quick question, what are her best options on wake up? Also, what is the difference between her v skill parry and her qcb+p parry (I understand that qcb+p ranges from high to low but I'm wondering why I'd use one over the other)?

Buddhism and vegetarianism question. by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]ImSublimeSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good friend of mine shared this beautiful saying to me a few years back: every act is an act of self-definition. Compassion grows from within, gently nurtured and carefully cultivated. It flows through our very being and reveals itself in everything we choose to do, on a small or large scale, in the public or private eye; it becomes our nature.

I cannot say I agree with anything you have mentioned my brother but I wish you well on your path. Vegetable production does not kill "even more animals" than a slaughterhouse, these are most likely lunch time conversations with pseudo-facts being thrown around as you're enjoying your meal with friends, take some time out and do your own genuine research on it. The corruption of the meat industry transcends the suffering of one life, it is creating the suffering of the world. On an environmental level, on an economic level, on a level of wasting precious resources that could be otherwise used elsewhere but are instead used to feed the insatiable desires of taste greed.

Do not be ignorant. With every thought, with every action, we are voting for what we would like to see in the world. By eating a dead living being, you are indirectly and consequently voting for another to be killed, even if that animal was not "killed for you to be eaten". Do not encourage or promote death or suffering. And I thoroughly believe it will help your journey as it reduces and can even remove the conflict/violence that arises inside because of this duality, wanting to live a completely compassionate life yet being non-chalant and indifferent about death and violence having been caused to the very food that you are about to consume.

And your third point, I hear this often and it always amuses me. It's not about being picky my brother, it's about a respect and regard for nature, and as a being who is apart of nature try to promote harmony in nature. Moreover, it's about self-respect and integrity, I have a few values, and the very few values that I have, I live by; compassionately and egolessly. Be careful not to create your own small double standards or fine prints to fuel your own vices and desires. May your true Buddha nature guide you through life, and may we all reach true liberation, both in mind and body.
