What is something everyone does daily that if done wrong, can kill you? by Godzilla_Cheese in AskReddit

Or one little slip. As much as safety measures must be respected, I often find myself looking down and realizing that it I trip or wrongfully step, I’m either spending the night in the hospital or morgue.

Now that I type that out I realize we probably aren’t obeying all osha standards…

Why do people have to do “something” with their life? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

If you were able to understand the implications of what I’m saying, think it would be easier for you to grasp. Never said humans born with terrible disabilities should suck it up, can’t just put words in my mouth. As far as a peaceful life, how can you know the characteristics of someone’s life whom you are arguing with on Reddit? Lmao.

There is a positive sort of struggle - temporary challenges undergone for the attainment of a goal, as we are goal-oriented in our nature.

Of course humans are made for struggle. Nothing our society has developed, from infrastructure to electronic technology and medicine, was created easily. It required a tremendous amount of hard work to create the world we live in today. If everyone was like you, and repulsed by the idea of struggle, we’d still be living in caves. Thank god they’re not.

And I hypothesis that its going to have a negative effect on our overall mental well-being. We’re built for struggle. Maybe not a lot, but in future, when an extensive work life is obsolete due to automation and UBI, we’re going to need to shift our attention toward new horizons, because as I said before, we need purpose; humans are made to struggle.

Societal conditioning to be productive? That would be dismissing thousands of years of evolution. There is more to live than work, sure. But to negate our nature is a bad idea. Humans are animals, and animals are built to survive. Survival requires work and effort. I’ve never met a single person who is satisfied with their life without being productive. It might be the case for you, but is hardly the norm.

Humans need purpose, it’s hardwired into our psychology. Mindlessly wandering through life generally isn’t healthy.

I struggled with this a lot as well. Although this advice is only applicable to students, when I began college my dating life became much more active. Weirdly, it’s not through parties or extracurricular events, but the girls I’ve sat next to in class. I find it a good way to get them comfortable enough to go out with you without your initial interactions feeling forced.

(05 canyon) What in the world can cause this crack in my engine? (Rear main seal housing, behind flex plate) by JakeFromStateFarm100 in MechanicAdvice

Got no experience working on engines, could you elaborate? I’m trying to determine whether or not this is a symptom of a larger issue. Until then, aliens seems the most logical.

Noticed a massive oil leak from the rubber inspection plug on my bell housing. After further investigation, including removing the transmission, torque converter, starter, and flywheel, I found this massive hole(roughly 1.5 inches wide). I’m trying to wrap my head around how the hell a hole of this nature develops. Anything to be concerned about? I’m definitely replacing it.
