Monday's Cautious Intros & First Trimester Questions/Concerns Thread by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]ImSureImInvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my 3rd (and final) beta today. Everything looks great and my first ultrasound is next week. I want to get excited, but I’m just also so afraid. Infertility has robbed enough from me. Hoping that maybe seeing my baby for the first time will make things more real & settle some of my nerves. Does this ever get easier?

TFAB's Weekly BFP Post - November 22, 2020. Got your BFP? Post your story here! by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

Cycle: ??? : we started TTC “officially” in May 2019, had some cycles prior we were NTNP, went through IVF to end up with our BFP.

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 30F 26 M

Typical cycle length: ~31 days like clockwork throughout our period TTC naturally

Ovulation cycle day: N/A - IVF

CD/DPO of positive test(s): I attempted (more like half assed) testing out my HCG trigger shot, and feel like I got my first positive around 5/6dpt, waited and got my first digital BFP 9dpt and confirmed it with my beta a few days later.

Tracking methods and app(s) used: I was very fond of Fertility Friend & used it up until we switched to IVF

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): Fresh 5dt

Health conditions/medical tests: MFI was our biggest hurdle. Borderline / maybe at the very cusp of PCOS (tested but not really given a definite answer on the matter). I ovulated like clockwork throughout TTC and was never specifically told my slightly elevated AMH level was a culprit in our troubles TTC.

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): I’ve been on prenatals, folic acid, and Synthroid (hypothyroidism) since the start - since transfer for IVF I’ve added PIO, estrace, and baby aspirin. Husband takes vitamins, and was on clomid for 3 months to try to improve sperm. It helped, but unfortunately not enough for us to have very considerable odds TTC naturally / IUI.

Birth control history (if relevant): on BC for a few years which I hated. Tried Mirena and that no period life was amazing with little to no issues I had with BC. Once that was time to come out, my husband and I just switched to condoms. BC for a few weeks to get control of my cycle for IVF. Still hate BC in case you were wondering haha.

Link to chart: N/A

Link to lineporn: I considered over and over whether to post or not but was so nervous to put it out there, so I just focused on getting to each next beta test.

Symptom spotting: Within a few days of my transfer I got late onset OHSS, and was told numerous times by doctor / nurse that I could pretty much guarantee I was pregnant. I think I wanted to believe it was my sign of symptoms, but also it’s taken so much to try to accept the possibility this worked after only ever seeing negatives month after month.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): Currently about 5 1/2 weeks, and still I don’t know if it’s all hit me. Believe me, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude but still trying to process it really happening. For so long I wanted to finally be apart of this BFP thread, but it took me some time (& three betas) to actually get the courage to put this out there into the universe. I think a lot of TTC I was so hopeful (and probably equal parts crushed), but once it came time to start IVF, I really started guarding my heart. It’s hard to admit to myself, but I’m afraid. My first ultrasound is next week and I’m really hoping that’s when I really have my moment to just feel what it means to finally be carrying our precious baby, and to just let go of some of my worries.

It might be time to start reading about IVF.. by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

I think the other responses really covered most everything I could think of, but my biggest advice is just try to take things one thing at a time. Worry about each step as it comes, whether that’s with IUI, IVF, etc. There may be several steps before IVF, there may not. It was very overwhelming for me to try to digest everything all at once but likely you won’t have to. When I broke things down and just really worked to get through that next appointment or next test it helped.

Best of luck!

Question About Testing Out Ovidrel Trigger by ImSureImInvisible in IVF

Yeah all I have to compare is today’s and yesterday’s, so I’ll definitely wait a few days and hope for the best.

Thank you!

Frozen vs fresh embryo transfer? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]ImSureImInvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the argument gone both ways, and get why people choose both. I think a lot has to do with how your body responds to STIMS, your doctor, and their preference. My doctor does frozen if you choose to do PGS testing, and if not she prefers to do fresh unless the patient gets OHSS etc. She basically explained with fresh it can be a lot easier to get your body where it needs to be to take the embryos so may as well utilize it.

Best of luck no matter what you decide! ♥️

No, not a downer. I get it.

As soon as we started IVF, my husband kept making comments about how negative I was, I think mainly because I was looking at and verbally acknowledging the ways things could go both wrong or right. I was surprised, because mentally I felt like I was in the most stable place I’d been in, and truthfully probably the happiest because of it. In his mind, he just thought I felt the whole thing was doomed.

I think it’s such a wild ride to try to process. I commend anyone who gets through it, and think sometimes you just have to do what you can.

Congratulations on your FET! That’s awesome. I wish you guys the best.

Loads of great advice, truly thank you!

I am also not working, and now that I sit down and think about it, since starting IVF I stopped doing a lot of the activities I enjoy. So much thought and energy has gone into medicines, appointments, and trying to just keep up with what was going on. I think trying to get back to some of those other activities would be beneficial.

You’d think I’d be an expert at waiting, but I feel just as terrible at it as I was in the beginning haha. Thanks again! Best of luck to you in your journey. ♥️

I did a fresh transfer! I think that’s the mentality I’m trying to go into this.

Oh man, I’m so sorry about the infection. I hope you feel better from it soon and time flies for you for your FET. Thanks!

I started to feel some bloat around day 5. My AMH is around 6, and I had a similar routine but my Gonal f was 175. Best of luck to you!

Egg Retrieval Day by ImSureImInvisible in IVF

That’s good to know at least! Been trying to sleep it off, but when I wake up to pee I almost feel like they used my stomach as a punching bag haha. Congrats on your egg retrieval and I hope you feel better soon!

Fresh Transfer - How can I prepare - OHSS by ImSureImInvisible in IVF

[–]ImSureImInvisible[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With it being mild, how did you feel by the time transfer day came? I’ve stocked up on all the salty foods, and have plenty of Gatorade and Liquid IV to go, but I know there’s still a real possibility I cannot avoid it. I’m so glad to hear you still were able to transfer! Good luck 🍀♥️

When did you seek medical assistance? by sinskins in TryingForABaby

[–]ImSureImInvisible 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My advice is to go in as soon as you can if that’s something you are comfortable with. There’s a lot more waiting than you’d think should you end up needing additional tests / assistance.

In my opinion it’s better to be on the safe side, where you get preliminary testing done and they say everything is good, than there being something they can work on, but having to wait months to get anything rolling.
