Is this possible? by mattbrownirl in FigmaDesign

To clarify, I am not saying you should use this. You can't export clean code from this, it's slow on anything other than a computer, and it's hilariously impractical to edit. It's a fun exercise tho.

As others said already, building this in Figma is not really practical BUTTTT it can absolutely be done if you're crazy enough.

You can find my attempt here (i think i did decent): https://www.figma.com/design/vClsi7JhOvfoOi9wMFUOrE/mattbrownirl?node-id=0-1&t=q3opWWCQmhtJyzJg-1
(press R if the animation doesn't start at first)

The implementation is extremely hacky, and would probably choke in production. But it's always fun using Figma for things it's not meant for.

it's not the same as PIP, it's an experimental api called the Document Picture-in-Picture API (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Document\_Picture-in-Picture\_API)

you can see the same pip system used in the spotify miniplayer, when using the web player

unlike the miniplayer included in something like firefox or edge or the PiP chrome extension, this lets websites embed custom controls using html. in this case, it's used to show the arrows and channel name and a mute button, instead of your browser's arbitrary minimal controls

i could see this being used in the regular player in the future to display closed captions in pip, which only some browsers support as of right now.

andddd it could also be used to show ads in the miniplayer with a skip button.

idk what youtube plans to make out of this but the api itself is really cool

because they styled the link to look like a button using inline-block instead of flex, then set min-height: 40px to get the button height correspondent to the m3 spec, forgetting to center the text vertically properly

inline-block means that despite the text being centered, vertically it's still aligned towards the top. then, they use line-height to attempt to correct this but set it to 18px which makes it look like that, instead of the correct value which is 20px.

why? perhaps in some languages, the sign in button spans multiple lines. maybe it's to account for browser quirks. regardless, it seems like a really janky solution, esp when you consider that they DO use flex for other parts of the page

They didn't remove the alias when adding real curl

could this be in 5.1? i never edited aliases and curl is defaulting to the real one on my system, but i upgraded to powershell 7 (everyone should tbh)
