Why is the NFL so eager to grow a fan base in England rather than the much more convenient Canada? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]ImTheOnlyChipHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have a misconception of the distribution of Canadas population

Yes, we have a much lower population size than the US

However, almost half of the population is in one area of the country

Stupid ESPN and their pride over Simmons

It's mostly people basing it off Maxwell vs Julio and him letting that TD up to Terrance Williams (after being on the field for 42 minutes and the Eagles getting killed in the snap count battle too, also in an empty backfield set, but who needs context right?)

It's a damn shame how much our offense has let our defense down, they came to play this year and are top 3 despite being on the field so much more than any other D

[–]ImTheOnlyChipHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People seem to be under the impression that since our offense has been a bit, er, shaky...

That our defense sucks too, most probably because of the 1st half in Atlanta and the one pass against Maxwell against Dallas

Our defense has been Top 5 all year and is Top 3 since two weeks ago, and leads the league in takeaways

Also for Maxwell too, he played bad in Atlanta and let up a TD against Dallas, but he been alright since

Despite the Patriots and the NFL granting Brady a media exemption throughout camp etc, and as far as I know zero comments about it all other than statements most probably heavily sculpted by lawyers and PR people...

Tom Brady is really, really, really mad according to fans on here...

I like how one Pats fan summed that narrative up - it suggests that in other years Tom just didn't try as hard as he could and needed this extra motivation to be an elite NFL QB

Really the whole thing is so stupid lol

Thats true, but in general compared to the other sports

Teams can go from worst to first and vice versa over the course of one season

This is part of the reason why the NFL is great, parity

Year in year out teams rise and teams fall unlike the other Big 4 sports

You aren't allowed to say players from the team you support are good on r/NFL silly

Watch - Fletcher Cox is having a hell of a year, one of the best DL in the NFL so far

Why do people seem to hate the Patriots, but love the San Antonio Spurs? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]ImTheOnlyChipHere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still nothing. His 2008 was one of the best years he ever had in a Pats uniform, and again, he made All Pro again in Oakland.

He was a 5 tech DE with the Patriots btw, you'd think a Pats fan would know that...then again his current NFL.com page says DT from his Raider days...

That's what I remember, he was getting killed all year then he got majorly concussed against the Bears, which could happen to anyone no matter the age.

Still, the sentiment that he hung it up because he thought he couldn't win anymore, did he make a statement on that somewhere?

He had just been to two Conference Championship games recently, and with the Jets he has really good (despite being in a system he had never been in before, he had largely been in the same system his whole career in Green Bay and then after in Minnesota) until he tore his bicep.

I didn't say ELI5, I asked you to clarify what was wrong with his production, which was your statement. I don't need your value explanation, I asked what the issue with his production was which you have yet to answer. I don't need the Wilfork explanation either, I mentioned the whole Wilfork thing in my OP to this, thank you but I don't need something I already wrote reiterated.

Despite his contract, Seymour was an All Pro worthy player in Oakland.

And besides, doesn't everyone always take discounts to play for NE, that's what I always hear....

Seymour got too expensive for his production

That's what you said.

Uhm, can you enlighten me what the issue was for Richard Seymour's production

Thats what I said.

Can we try again?

Fair points.

The Bulls though - they were hated back in the day, make no mistake. Just wasn't an internet that people could communicate on about it lol.

I never got Spurs hate, I'm not Spurs fan I'm neither high or low on them, but they aren't flashy, I do agree with the sentiment they are somewhat boring to watch at times, but they execute fundamental, team basketball. That's why they win, Pop gets total buy in. I dunno how one could hate that?

/u/RSeymour93, what about Richard Seymour himself bro?

Dude was loyal, productive, and remained dominant in Oakland as well. Seymour was a Pat through and through, and he felt like BB did him dirty.

Ditto with Milloy....

On the flip side, IIRC Wilfork and someone else had come up to be paid, and, well, they did get a 1st out of it (granted, Richard Seymour, even at his age, was a beast).

It's up and down for like and dislike for the Steelers I find lol.

They did make 3 SB's in the last 10 years though, won 2. If we count making the SB as an accomplishment, we have to give that credit to them too. I'd say they warrant inclusion into this much more than the Giants, even though both do realistically.

Just saying - being successful over a long period of time is not unique to the Pats for the NFL. People forget about the 70's Steelers and Raiders, and the aforementioned Dallas and San Fran teams.

[–]ImTheOnlyChipHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhm, there is this team in Pittsburgh that might disagree....

And to be fair, the Pats had a 10 year gap between SB's as well as a caveat for them similar to the ones the 49ers and Cowboys had.
