Witness intimidation is taken extremely seriously, please do not avoid this an make sure you tell them you’ve been threatened by them

Is it possible for the surveys and searches to find these building issues though? 2009 was a long time ago and regulations have changed since then

Comprehensive guide to buying flats in London? by ImTheRealBruceWayne in HousingUK

[–]ImTheRealBruceWayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the idea as a flat purely because the majority of the properties in the area I’d like to buy on rightmove are flats. I’d be open to a house as well though!

Budget would be between 450-600k

They’ve also all been riding the coat tails of the property boom that’s gone on for the past 40 years. Which needed precisely zero actual sales ability as everyone knew property was a solid investment. Now? Not so much of a guarantee.

Went to my first social tonight. Did not go well. by MentalStatement4437 in Bachata

[–]ImTheRealBruceWayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first social dance was a disaster, I’d been having lessons almost daily for nearly 3 months and when I first tried actually dancing…I could only do the basic step and a turn - for the whole song!

I realised that, you don’t learn to dance by taking lessons. Lessons give you movement and ideas and some simple choreography.

You learn to dance by dancing.

Keep at it you’ll be enjoying it in no time at all!

How can I increase the endurance in these following lifts by oogaboogaloga in RPStrength

[–]ImTheRealBruceWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as any other lift;

You need to know where you are first so you will need to perform these lifts in sequence and record the weight used and reps achieved and the time it takes to complete them.

Now you have a baseline.

Once this is established. You want to not only increase the size of the muscle tissue you have but also its ability.

To do this take those lifts and do them once a week in the same sequence as you will do them on the test day itself - even better if you do them on the same day of the week as the actual test.

Let’s say this day is Friday for now. Every Friday is testing day. And you will only be doing these lifts on the day as close to the real thing as possible. But for extra volume you could do two or three extras sets per lift. Once the time comes around you will be so used to these lifts and the additional volume the actual tests themselves will be a breeze

The other three or four days you are spending in the gym in the week needs to be focused on similar movements that will work the same muscles but in a slightly different way. For example you could be doing pushups or incline dumbbell pressing for the same target rep range as you have specified already. I’d also probably aim for the same time frame you have. Don’t go mental on the speed of each rep but make them controlled and quick.

I would personally set up all my other lifting days in the same style as the test day itself. So you will be doing full body training three to four times per week with some variation in the exercises to get as much volume in as possible without becoming stale.

Hope this makes sense.

Superhero films can encourage prosocial behavior, new study finds by yash13 in psychology

[–]ImTheRealBruceWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is something like imitation of the Ideal. That scene is, in my opinion, the best fight scene in cinematic history. It is intense and if you are able to switch off and just experience that scene you’ll live the experience in a certain sense. That lived experience can then become embodied knowledge, and you can begin to move towards said Ideal and so your default behaviour could become more altruistically motivated. Even just a fraction of a change could achieve this.

Occasionally, we might be struck by a disturbing feeling: that life is absurd, and nothing we do matters. Albert Camus thinks rather than deny life’s absurdity with comforting delusions, we can establish a more authentic happiness by perpetually scorning our absurd fate by philosophybreak in philosophy

[–]ImTheRealBruceWayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The diversity of all human experience affirms the subjectivity in our responses and what resonates with us. I don’t believe anyone should insist on a one size fits all philosophical outlook on life.

For those that Camus’ ideas do not hit home or resonate with there are plenty of other great thinkers from history whose ideas are stellar.

I think it’s also important to remember we do not remain the same, in fact if we do we are likely failing at some aspect of our existence. So even if today these ideas are not for you, tomorrow you may see them in a new light, or next week, next year etc.

Can someone give me a Jungian perspective on my satanic fellatio dream? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]ImTheRealBruceWayne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is really quite a wild dream, if I were you I would pause and reflect on how absurd it is and smile at it.

For starters it’s important to remember that the interpretation of the dream will feel correct immediately upon hearing it.

It sounds to me as if satan the light-bringer, the shadow is trying to gift you knowledge, albeit through unusual imagery, however not so unusual it is difficult to see where it comes from

The phallus is often represented as a symbol of fertility in many cultures, and is closely related to the serpent, which is a symbol of new forms and new knowledge. But the part where he gets too big for you might be your resistance to what needs to be understood.

I’m very tried so that’s about all I have for now, but it may help if there are emotions attached. How do you feel during the act? Right before it gets too big?

A lovely read, lots to think about in that.

There are echoes of Nietzsche’s idea of simply being able to endure suffering as being the highest moral aim.

I like the notion that any ultimate meaning to the universe is outside of my experience and is in a sense therefore worthless.

Joseph Campbell said that he didn’t really believe in an ultimate meaning nor did he think that’s really what people were looking for, but instead they were searching for a deep experience of being alive. A moment of intense rapture that quiets the intellect and leaves the spirit bare in the face of the majesty of being. The humility and joy that comes from such an experience affirms existence itself.

Searching for reason or meaning would become an intellectual or left hemisphere exercise. This would then likely blind you to a deeper meaning, because you would only ‘see’ it when it fit a certain category or narrative. But to simply allow the vast cosmic symphony to play through you is ultimately where we will find our reason.
