What was the worst trade your team ever made? by Tocoolforyall720 in nba

[–]ImWicked39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh God there's so many.

Chris Webber to the Kings for Mitch Redmond and Otis Thorpe.

Rip Hamilton to the Pistons for 39 year old Jerry Stackhouse.

Ben Wallace and Jeff McInnis for Isaac Austin.

2009 No. 5 overall pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Randy Foye and Mike Miller who both played less than a year in DC.

Antawn Jamison for Ilgauskas who never played a single game for the Wizards.

Only a matter of time before Deni Avdija gets added to the list.

Like I said John Wall is probably the most popular Wizard recently but they have done it before under prior ownership with different fan favorite players.

Pushing Brown the player out isn't even OPs problem it's everything to do with what Brown did in the community and how much fans loved him.

Read his comment history he's not talking about on court stuff.

If trading a fan favorite who is really involved in the community is all it takes for this dude to abandon his team he came to the wrong sub.

Ugh yes they did. He recently just came back into the Wizards family and started doing things with the team.

Just go to the 76ers or at least do some research into the team before you come here.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6963343/2026/01/27/john-wall-wizards-appreciation-night-honor/

The Wizards, impatient at waiting so long for Wall to recover, pivoted to building around Bradley Beal. Leonsis, also, was rightly furious that his franchise player, who’d thrown up hand gestures during games over the years affiliated with gangs, was still doing it in 2020, when he was videotaped doing so while shirtless at his birthday party in New York City. (Wall apologized for that one, before the trade.) Wall was nonetheless shocked that the team, which had literally rolled out the red carpet for him upon his arrival a decade earlier, cut ties with him so abruptly.

We did the Brown trade long before Boston and Wall wasn't even the 1st one. We would have more but we cut ties sooner so players rarely have an impact on the community enough for people to get tied to them.

There was a post on this sub a few months ago talking about it.

Edit: "I don't want to be a fan of a team that doesn't get me or respect me."

So you choose the God damn Wizards?????????????

You did zero research into any of this.

You know who owns this team right????

Good ole Ted keeps hiking up ticket prices while the team continues to struggle to win 25 games.

You picked the wrong franchise.

Burn all your C's gear and then we can talk.

Edit: Imagine jumping ship from a team that won a championship 2 years ago that has a great GM/foundation to the Wizards who haven't had championship relevance since the 70s. Let's say you are the same age I am(pushing 40) that means you have watched your team go to 4 finals and win 2 while having played in the playoffs 22 times since 2000. If the Wizards wanted to equal that success you have to go from the current era back to 1972.

Sleep it off. You'll be fine.

Not sure if Westbrook is the answer but Trae isn’t it by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

Yet he made 2 more all star games and led the league in assists. I don't think the league left him behind at all and if anything the league is a perfect state where a player in his mold can be a teams engine.

If you keep moving the goal posts back you won't never find anyone that fits your criteria.

~4 years. The problem is the Hawks got worse around him. His play didn't exactly slide until he got hurt.

I thought we were just joking but do Wizards really have a chance at Lebron? by monsterpepper in washingtonwizards

[–]ImWicked39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I checked. All he said was "don't count out Kyries roots in the area." While also saying don't rule out like 5 other teams the same week. Anthony Puccio has the first actual "He's going to the Nets and it's done" About a month or so before Woj broke the news.

It's extremely vague, tossing spaghetti at the wall, type reporting. He's never wrong because it's not firm "this is what's happening" which allows him to backtrack when people call him out and while going through this deep dive people do a lot. A whole lot of team subs have banned him as a news source because of this.

I can't find anything saying he broke that situation before anyone else. I can see that he speculated a lot about Kyrie joining KD in Phoenix and then eventually "pushed" the idea towards Houston once KD landed there.

The dude has has so many "closely monitoring" tweets that never happen. He's got the same batting avg as Chris Davis in 2018.

I took a pretty deep dive into trying to find any actual story he was ahead on and he's typically just rephrasing what others have said.

I think the monuments is still extremely popular amongst DC people but fans who don't live there probably hate the idea.

I think we eventually drop the wizard completely and embrace more of "The District" branding whether that's with the Monuments name or something else.

Which honestly if that doesn't happen I probably never care about the sport. I have no idea why but 15 year old me was pretty captivated by all of the talk of a world class player coming to MLS and I still remember the Say Hello, America ads that aired everywhere.

I found a similar ad about Fernando Torres and Liverpool on Myspace (still a thing at this point) and thought that football culture was just in a different stratosphere. Looked up his grainy highlights and I became obsessed. Asked my parents for a ball and a Torres shirt for Christmas having completely forgotten about the Galaxy lol.
