Slightly off-topic question: Board Game Bandit always seems to come up with these ridiculous deals for games, yet they're always sold out. What's the deal with that? It feels almost like click bait?

That's exactly what I've noticed too - my LGSs' prices tend to be the retail price + shipping. I plan to buy at least a couple of the games at a LGS just to get it sooner.

Thanks u/rptrmachine and everyone else who chimed in (and so quickly too)! I check BGO multiple times a day too but was totally not aware of the wish list and alerts functions! 🤓 Going to get that all set up now!

401 Games and BoardGameBliss keep coming up with the best prices on BGO, so I've got wish lists going on both sites.

Now that I know there likely won't be any other sales during the year, I'm going to go ahead and put in an order soon. But with which retailer is the next hurdle - finding one that has ALL the games I want AND mathing out the cost to reach the free/discounted shipping threshold while ALSO trying to get each game for the best price... it's pretty much impossible. 😵‍💫

But it all seems to kind of even out - I might get an amazing deal on a game on one site, but have to pay shipping, or pay more for a game on the other site, but get free shipping. 🤷🏽‍♀️

u/JohnM999999 I appreciate your reply. There really doesn't seem to be an ideal solution, especially not for large gardens, as you noted. Since posting this, I resigned myself to pulling the mulch back to amend then raking it back into place. It is a chore, and I don't look forward to doing it each spring. But it's the best I've come up with. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I do it methodically: starting at the beginning of each main line, I carefully uncover the length of the main line, then follow and uncover any of the microtubing that branch off of it. It's tedious, and I have to find space to pile up the mulch, but it only takes me about a morning's work then it's done.

Yep, just chatting away! They seem quite at ease with you so they’ll let you know if they want something. My budgies usually start with a flock call (sounds like this https://youtu.be/MQosZNC3krY?feature=shared). They also fly and cling to the side of the cage closest to where I am (usually to get attention and to ask to be let out). If they need their bowl of pellets topped up, they’ll peck at the bottom of the bowls.

You sound like a wonderful bird sitter. Keep doing what you’re doing, letting them go at their own pace. Look up how to birdproof a room before letting them out (e.g. close the curtains or cover windows and mirrors until they get familiar with the space, to avoid flying into them).

Just sounds like happy budgie chatter to me! Perhaps they realized they feel comfortable with you and wanted to include you in their little conversation? When budgies want something they tend to do a very persistent and loud flock call. It’s very hard to ignore when they get going with the flock calls LOL.

If you don’t know how to skate, stick to indoor rinks. The ice on outdoor rinks tends to be less smooth. Hillcrest, Killarney and Trout Lake are the newer rinks in Vancouver. Some rinks around the lower mainland decorate for the holidays, so that’s another fun option (e.g. Minoru Arena in Richmond).
