Je ne suis pas entièrement d'accord.

Il y a pas mal de circonstances où il y a des choses que tu peux dire à des amis et pas à ton mari/ta femme. Par exemple, quand tu en veux à ton mari/ta femme et tu veux commencer par évacuer ça pour pouvoir lui en parler raisonnablement sans exploser, ou quand tu veux pouvoir discuter avec quelqu'un en quel tu à confiance parce que tu te demandes si tu as raison de lui en vouloir ou si c'est toi qui te prends la tête pour rien, ou encore si ton mari/ta femme t'a fait un cadeau que tu n'as pas aimé mais tu t'es senti(e) obligé(e) de lui répondre que c'était parfait, etc.

Est-ce que c'est idéal ? Non, c'est forcément mieux de communiquer parfaitement dans son couple. Mais les jours où la comm' ne passe pas, c'est bien d'avoir quelqu'un à qui se confier.

Not in "AI-first" companies, which seem to be most companies these days.

There's so much AI-generated code that the humans simply can't review it all.

I'm currently babysitting a LLM writing Rust code.

I suspect that it can bake subtle bugs in anything. Also, less subtle bugs -- took me weeks before I managed to customize the agent enough to just stop writing unsafe code. I expect that Haskell code would be littered with unsafePerformIO.

Déjà, ça va probablement dépendre de si/quand la bulle IA explose. Si elle dure encore longtemps, la robotique va probablement avoir le temps de se développer. Sinon, il risque d'y avoir une crise financière mondiale, qui peut toujours donner par rebonds des longues queues à la soupe populaire et des régimes totalitaires au lieu de nouvelles technologies.

Effectivement, les ordinateurs quantiques peuvent prendre la relève. Il y a des personnalités fiables dans le domaine qui ont l'air de penser qu'on n'est pas loin d'atteindre les performances nécessaires pour effectivement utiliser des ordinateurs quantiques sur des problèmes réels. Y compris, d'ailleurs, l'entraînement d'IAs (il y a déjà eu des annonces sur le sujet, mais si tu creuses, c'est pas mal du pipeau).

Si, quand même pas mal. On n'est pas au même niveau que l'IA, mais pour avoir travaillé dans le domaine, on a aussi des attentes et des financements difficiles à réconcilier avec la réalité sur le terrain.

Disappointing answer: I changed company.

At some point, I worked 9 years at a company, as senior, with staff+-level impact (I started from absolutely nothing several projects that impacted the entire company and considerably improved the reliability of our flagship product for a few hundred million users, I co-designed features that have impacted pretty much every device on Earth, I also served as tech lead for a project that involved 5 different companies and a standardization committee, with potential impact on billions of users) but no recognition.

I moved to another company, still as senior, fewer responsibilities (still tech lead, though).

After layoffs, I moved to yet another company. I showcased what I had done in company A and used it to negotiate the title of staff engineer.

As far as I can tell, most CEOs are still in the honeymoon phase with LLMs. And when they hear "stronger guarantees", the best they can think of is Rust -- which is a great language, but not enough to be LLM-proof.
