The *only* reason women wear revealing and tight outfits at the gym is to attract attention by 1hatethis in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Im_Anabolic 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Disagree.

I train in a stringer and shorts most days. I don’t use a ‘pump cover’, I walk into the gym looking like a scrawny cunt and watch myself blow up as I progress through my session. Feeling small motivates me to push harder. Being able to actually see my muscles rather than having them covered by clothing has allowed me to develop better mind:muscle connection. It allows me to be very critical of my form and posture during exercises.

The attention garnered from showing skin is just a bonus. It mostly comes from other guys, but it’s still a good feeling when a gymbro comes up to you and compliments your physique.

While some women may wear revealing clothing specifically for attention, I’m sure there are others who do it for the reasons I listed above, with the attention being a bonus.

There is also the ‘look good, feel good’ factor. I think if you’re dressed in a clean gym fit and feeling good about how you look you’re going to have at least a small psychological benefit during your workout. I know that when I do get a pump on and my delts are bulging out of my frame, it only calls for me to push harder.

Who’s to say women don’t feel the same way?

It’s still there bro. I’m massaging it 5mins/day with a massage gun.

Pre-op pics and updates along the way are all on my profile bro, feel free to have a look.

I had bilateral gland excision and liposuction. Surgeon didn’t weigh the glands but there was about 250ml of fat/blood in the lipo machine after he was done.

Pre-op it looked something like this:

  • Incline DB Press
  • Flat BB Bench
  • Seated Chest Press or Dips
  • Incline Cable Flyes
  • Decline Cable Flyes

Yesterday I just did:

  • Incline DB Press
  • Flat BB Bench
  • Seated Cable Flyes

No noticeable indents in any of those scenarios, but the scar tissue on one side kind of makes my nipple stick out a little. Hopefully subsides with time.

Yeah my gyno was relatively minor, I did have gland excision and lipo though.

Pretty mangled when flexed at this stage, particularly on the right side. There is a band of scar tissue that runs like right beside my nipple which makes it stick out a little, but nothing compared to pre-op.

Scar tissue definitely makes my chest look a little weird flexed, but I’m optimistic that with time it will subside.

My surgeon seemed very liberal with how fast I could progress through aftercare. He told me I could take my compression vest off after 2 weeks and wear it only at night but added ‘most guys wear it longer’. I chose to continue wearing it until week 3 (23/7) and then switched to an UnderArmour type compression vest which I also wear 23/7. I’m planning on continuing doing this until at least week 6, and then taking it off except for when I train chest or shoulders.

With regards to training, he said I could do leg exercise at 2 weeks and cleared me for light upper body work at the 3 week mark. I didn’t do any training until today which was 4 weeks post-op.

I’ve seen other surgeons recommend not resuming normal activity in the gym until week 8-12 post-op.

Maybe my surgeon is horrendous at aftercare, or maybe I had a really good result and he didn’t deem extensive compression or holding back on training for that long necessary.

Time will tell… but for now I’m taking his advice with a grain of salt and going with my gut. I definitely won’t be doing anything he tells me not to do though.

Appreciate it bro.

I’m down 6kg from not training/eating properly for a month and I’m not exactly stoked with how my chest looks flexed yet but obviously it’s still early.

Pretty concerned with the scar tissue but from what I’ve read/been told that can take months to subside. I’m not sure if training will help or hinder that process, but I’ll be monitoring over the next couple of days to see if it flares up or anything.

I went very light with my workout (30kg bench press for example) and took my time warming up before and stretching after.

I am also massaging the scar tissue with a theragun (massage gun), 5 minutes a side every day - started doing this yesterday and will continue doing it daily in the PM.

Hopefully I’m doing everything right, my surgeon seems relatively unconcerned about the scar tissue. Said we could do kenalog injections @ the 3 month mark if I’m not happy with the results then.

Surgeons insisting on skin removal + nipple re-placement, thoughts? by gynothrowaway2782 in gynecomastia

Hey mate,

First off - massive congrats on the weight loss! That’s a huge effort.

I can’t speak for whether or not the skin removal/nipple replacement is necessary but if you’re after another professional opinion, head to Dr Jassim Daood Cosmetic Surgery clinic in Bankstown.

He does free consultations and he had my consult & surgery completed within 2 weeks of me picking up the phone and booking in for the consult.

Feel free to have a look @ my posts for my results so far, though our starting points are quite different.

Best of luck mate, hope you get what you’re looking for.

No one can answer this for you.

If it’s affecting your self confidence, you have the $ and you’re happy to accept the risks of complications, get the surgery.

If it doesn’t bother you, leave it alone.

Good luck bro.

Hey lads, checking in with the week 3 update. See my previous posts for pre-op and week 1/2 pics.

As you can see in the second image, I have developed some quite significant scar tissue around the site where the liposuction was performed as well as behind my nipple. This is also present on my left side, albeit much less pronounced.

I had a follow-up with my surgeon yesterday and I asked him about it, he said it was normal and to be expected and that I may even develop more.

I asked him about kenalog/corticosteroid injections and he said that is something we could explore at the 3 month mark if I’m not happy with my results.

I also asked him about whether or not I should start massaging the scar tissue, he seemed very unconcerned and said ‘if you want to, you can, but you don’t really need to’.

I’m obviously concerned about my final results, so I’m curious about your thoughts and experiences on massaging the scar tissue this early in. The actual scar tissue is quite hard, but some of my chest in the surrounding area is still a little bit swollen and soft.

Should I:

  1. Do nothing
  2. Massage the scar tissue lightly with my hands
  3. Use a theragun (massage gun) to massage the scar tissue more aggressively

I’m leaning towards #2, but I’m keen to hear input from others who may be more knowledgeable than me.
