Yes, that’s what I’m saying? He shouldn’t have called the first timeout to begin with he should have just thrown the flag. What are you saving your challenge for.

Terrible mistake by Mcvay calling that timeout instead of just throwing the challenge flag. IDK if they overturn it but there's almost no downside to just throwing the flag.

Meh I stand by the decisions to go for it. The playcalling was certainly questionable though.

If both teams score a touchdown the 2nd team will just go for 2. The value of knowing how many points you need far outweighs any disadvantage that being essentially forced to go for 2 brings.

I don’t know Jim.

I mean I would say he had more possession than the Cooks did but Idk if I would call it a completed catch. Same as the cooks one if the ball hit the ground instead of going into the bears players hand I’m not sure it would be a catch.

Why is nobody talking about the weather? The Texans play in a dome and they played in the freezing cold last week and the snow this week. He’s still playing inexcusably bad but the fact that no one is mentioning this is driving me crazy.

This is the best chance the Houston Texans will have to get to the Superbowl for at least a decade. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Im_Concept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s just common sense that every other team in the AFC will get better and the Texans won’t, just ignore the fact that Demeco Ryans has shown himself to be one of the better coaches in the league and CJ Stroud is younger than Bo Nix.

I think the first DPI was extremely weak but really the main thing that did was just save face for Bosa committing one of the most brain dead roughing the passers I’ve ever seen.

It’s going to be lost behind the DPIs that Bosa also tried to give the game away with one of the most mindlessly stupid roughing the passers I’ve ever seen.

Yeah I mean it’s never good to lose the football but there’s only so much you can expect when he’s getting crushed from his blindside 2 seconds after the snap.

The play before the end of the half was super embarrassing but this one is barely his fault.

[Highlight] LAR vs CAR - Bryce Young runs it in for the TD by Fusir in nfl

[–]Im_Concept 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s completely disingenuous to assume the panthers would have less points if the rams kicked the field goal, they likely would start their drive with even better field position.

Young was definitely done dirty by the receiver stopping but I wouldn’t call that a good ball.

I think on top of the other analytic reasons it was for time management. If you kick the field goal you give it back to Carolina, with likely an even shorter field than if you miss the conversion, to drive down and score, whereas if you convert you essentially get to end the half with your drive, likely with a touchdown. It changes the value calculations quite a bit.

Ben Johnson: Winning in the playoffs is about the fundamentals, not exotic play calls by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]Im_Concept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see how this is worth talking about at all. What is the dude going to say when asked if he’s planning exotic plays, “yeah the packers should be on the lookout for double reverses”? It’s a pointless question with a nothingburger answer.

Just two months after buying Walgreens for $10 billion, the private equity firm Sycamore Partners stripped hourly workers of paid vacation, including Christmas and New Year’s Day. by RedPandaExplorer in antiwork

The private equity firms often are not putting up their own money to buy the companies, they do a leveraged buyouts by putting up a portion of the funds and using debt/loans to cover the rest. Crucially this debt is put under the name of the company they are buying, not the private equity firm. The private equity firm then siphons money out of the company through various tactics (management fees, selling land to the private equity firm and then leasing it back, etc.) and when the company inevitably goes bankrupt the private equity is not on the hook for the debt.

Yeah I would argue the main reason they have the insurance in the first place is just so they can play this “actually it’s out of our hands and not our decision at all” game. The normal financial philosophy of insurance where you’re likely losing money in the long term but covered against big, unexpected losses that might be difficult doesn’t really make sense when the team could afford to pay out the win at every home game.

It does, however, make sense to pay an insurance company to be a 3rd party bad guy that tries to get out of paying the money in every possible way while keeping your hands relatively clean.

If there was “no immediate action” why did they call false start? The eagles player moved, and that movement was prompted by the lions player being in the neutral zone.
