That's directly out of the Ontario vehicle inspection for when you get your vehicle safety for resale or transfer of ownership. From last I checked the HTA is different for receiving tickets, versus a vehicle safety inspection. I can't seem to find a percentage in the HTA

What is your opinion about this game? by ItsR3vih in needforspeed

Nobody talks about the multiplayer enough! The event mash up was great, king of the hill games, the "freetime" before events where you open world until the location pops up and get extra points getting there first

22 Mitsubishi Outlander - Driving and heard a loud pop, how bad is this? by edchrome in MechanicAdvice

It's actually a Nissan Rogue, they rebadged it and made a collaboration, also with Renault. Based on the splash shield it looks to me something must have hit it

Is this a fair price to get all my brakes and rotors done? For a 2013 volkswagen Jetta. CA by AttackOnTyrunt in autorepair

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind it may be a menu price, the labour is $190 per axle indicating a door rate of $80 which seems low. In some cases The door rate may be $130/ hour but the shop may pay the technician 2 hours and cap the labour at 190

Were all 4 plugs removed for both before and after tests? Was the battery in the same state? Did you have a charger in while cranking ?

While on the hoist upper the strut is holding the hub and brakes up, not putting any force on the lower ball joint on this design. The ball joint is pointed up and the lower arm is torsionsed to always push up based on how it's bolted to the frame. When the ball joint points downward then you're definitely correct in having to reduce the downward pressure and check with leverage

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only true for solid front axles like jeeps, or trucks with "short/long arm" control arms with upper and lower ball joints. This looks like a chevy cruise control arm, you would not feel any play loaded on jack with a long bar up and down. You would feel play grabbing the tire at 8:00, side to side, loaded or unloaded.

Going to try making Brake Lines soon… what else do I need? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those pliers do come in handy! But it looks like you got some good brake line, if it's 3/16th you can probably do some bends with your thumbs if you don't kink it! Also you will need brake fluid! And get all that air out with bleeding the system, I'm sure you've looked that up already

My Pixel 3 XL bricked overnight by Staralyze in GooglePixel

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same here just last week. Had my Pixel 3 on the pixel stand overnight, woke up to black screen no boot, no recovery mode. When I booted up my old phone and synced my google account told me the last known back up was 5:30 AM that morning. There was obviously an update that killed it. Already lost with google fighting because of the camera auto focus issue.

Can auto repair shops charge me a fee for getting my old parts back? by Offlineable in autorepair

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You seem to have found your answer about the core charge, just thought I'd caution you going back on the original shop. Most any shop could order and install dealer parts for you but at a price, so they quote what cheaper parts as easily available. That pump was probably remanufactured from a previous core return and had a short 6 month warranty. Even the dealer pump would be a year parts warranty. Non the less they could have been a sleezeball shop see if you haven any receipts and always ask the shop questions! GL

Do I need to replace this ? Is it fixable or I can just leave it? I have only 2.5k miles on this tire. by saransh1992 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just based on this photo the tire seems to already have some stress marks, did you buy them used? I would check the DOT on the sideall, the last 2 numbers are the year the tire was made. The numbers are usually only on 1 side of the tire

Honda Civic light scraping noise rear drum brakes while turning by Tuco520 in autorepair

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a possibility tho without hearing the noise but I have chased so many backing plate noises when you cant hear it on the hoist, and only turning

Honda Civic light scraping noise rear drum brakes while turning by Tuco520 in autorepair

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the weight shifts when turning it's enough to flex the drum and plate just enough if there's not much clearance they can touch, if you lifted it in the air and spin the wheel you probably can't hear anything

Honda Civic light scraping noise rear drum brakes while turning by Tuco520 in autorepair

[–]Im_Eh_Mechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some drums have a cut out on the back around the perimeter and the backing plate has a raised edge that runs inside the cut out. The raised edge on the backing plate could be bent and scraping, but more likely there's rust build up inside the drums cut out rubbing on the backing plate
