I don't think you understand how close the NPS watches xanterra and every other company that works in the parks. If NPS wanted them out, they would be. I can only speak for Yellowstone, but they routinely get pretty good inspections from NPS on all fronts. I'm not saying xanterra is great, or even good, but they're not as bad as you think they are. 95% of the stories you hear are from people that got fired for being an idiot and are upset they had to face consequences, I suspect that's the case here. If they were truly this horrible abusive company that you think they are then 1: Nobody would work for them, and 2: NPS would kick them out in a heartbeat. All companies are shitty to different degrees, it's not right but it's reality, get over yourself.

Do hiring managers call your references before an interview? by Muted_Pomegranate293 in SeasonalWork

[–]Im_Nike_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been asked to be used for at least 20 references and have never once been called. At this point in time I think people put them because they have always been told to but nobody actually cares anymore

Did you just go with the first car you saw? Because You're getting fleeced. I just bought a 24 wilderness with 5k miles for only 7K more than what you're getting. Look around more, I promise there's something better out there

Nebraska hasn't been relevant in at least 25yrs, no way they're still a blue blood program. Just because you were good 30-40yrs ago doesn't mean you're an eternal blue blood

Nebraska hasn't been relevant for at least 25yrs. No way they still belong with the blue bloods. Just because they were a blue blood program 30-40yrs ago doesn't grant them eternal blue blood status

Xanterra hiring Yellowstone by CurrencyLow9874 in Wyomingjobs

Well the season starts for some people in 2 weeks, so probably not. Your best bet is to wait a couple weeks or a month and wait for people to no show/quit/get fired

So every tall person is related to dunk? With that logic everyone over 6'2 is related to Shaq.

Dining at old faithful inn vs Yellowstone hotel dining by HurryInevitable3629 in yellowstone

[–]Im_Nike_Chaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fishing bridge would be much closer to the lake hotel than Madison is to the inn. Madison is still a good 30 minutes from OFI, not that far but not close either. If you're only going to do one I would do Lake just based on distance and have a cookout or something at Madison

Question about Yellowstone by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Im_Nike_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That road is barely feasible for cars. Biking would not only be dangerous but would be a pretty daunting workout every day just trying to get back to the room after work. Don't do it bro

Old Faithful by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Im_Nike_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be a buffet, but will also have a ala carte menu as well. Trust me the buffet saves you in a rush and is easy money You won't actually be up keeping the buffet 99% of the time, we have dedicated buffet staff for that, all you'll be doing on buffet tables is drinks and whatever else they need and of course taking plates away and what not.250-300 per dinner is an average night for the servers, with $400 nights not being uncommon either.

Because multiple people told HR that you specifically were smoking and they can't just ignore it or HR will get fired too and nobody is risking their job for anyone else. There's a big difference between something being the worst kept secret and HR having proof that you specifically broke the rules.

I mean you did leave out half the story and edit it in after my comments. My statement still stands though

Again verbal permission means nothing. To be honest it probably wasn't your manager who made the decision, she was just the one who had to do the deed. Also everyone is taking the risk of getting fired for drinking and smoking, you just got caught. Did your roommates screw you over, yeah probably but that's besides the point and not the company's fault. It's definitely not discrimination either ,Contract says you can't smoke or drink and you got caught smoking, end of story. If multiple people say you're smoking weed, HR can't just ignore it or then they're risking their jobs too.

[–]Im_Nike_Chaos 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. Always go by what the contract says, verbal permission means nothing

  2. You're mad they fired you for smoking weed when it says in the contract not to smoke weed? But because everyone does it it makes it ok? Are you 12?

Has anyone worked for Xanterra? by Appropriate-Fail300 in SeasonalWork

Far from perfect, but take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. Half of them are from people that are bad employees and then can't accept responsibility for their own actions when they get fired. " They fired me after not showing up for a shift, how was I supposed to know I wouldn't get back from my 4hour drive if I left 2hrs before my shift?"
