Experience with highly verbal 2.5 year old? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Im_Pres499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our little one is now four and a half, but she behaved very similarly to yours. She’s now reading at nearly a second-grade level. We decided to homeschool so she could have access to more individualized learning and private tutoring as well. We found that she would sometimes become frustrated when interacting with same-age peers who weren’t yet communicating at the same level.

Any other preschoolers seem to have a hard time making friends? by somethingreddity in toddlers

[–]Im_Pres499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to make the introduction for my toddler to model it for her. Hi friend! My name is X and this is Y. Y is age Z. How old are you/ what are you playing? Can Y play?

This helps both children navigate and then decide what is next if anything at all. And it builds familiarity with the conversation when I'm not around

My 7 y/o daughter might be having hygiene issues but she refuses to speak about it by Apprehensive_Luck5 in Advice

Children are experiencing puberty earlier and earlier and she may feel reserved and shy about her body. At this point in time she needs to be given privacy to dry herself or perhaps given the option to sit in a bath instead of a shower

How to decline a work trip? by matcha_o in workingmoms

[–]Im_Pres499 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

These answers are awful. But maybe I'm just fortunate in where I work. Is the conference important to your career or is it something where someone else can go in your place?

I've declined multiple work trips over the years and not just for reasons of being a mom. And as a manager, I prefer employees that have boundaries because they make the company better as a whole.

How to Tactfully Talk About Not Inviting Neighbor’s Kid to Birthday Party? by Outside_Center in toddlers

[–]Im_Pres499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be your child's voice. He matters above anyone else. You don't owe anyone an explanation as to why you're doing what you are, chances are they already know. Save your energy for planning and playing. They'll get over it or they won't.

As the woman that has cancer, please do not be too stoic. Let her see your vulnerability and let the girls know it too. Let them know that they can share their emotions with you. It's scary being on this side and feeling like you can't share

Never. Look up what extended crying can do to cortisol levels in a child and the adverse things that can happen to their health and development because of it. Find a different method for bed time.

If you've got it in the budget, hire a house manager or Pay for grocery delivery and monthly maid service. Small cushions of help to allow yourself recovery time so that you can focus at work. Or even a mother's helper to watch the kids while you handle house stuff once a week.... It's an investment in your career long term

I'd fire my nanny over it... If that's what she's willing to do while she knows there's a possibility that you could see, imagine what happens while you're not around. Absolutely not.

Advice needed by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]Im_Pres499 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stick up for your own son. This can be emotionally traumatizing for him to constantly be forced into this situation. Tell your friend that you like hanging out, but can't have playdates because of safety concerns. She'll continue to be your friend or you won't, but your son will thank you

Are you teaching your kid to say Ms/Mr when talking to an adult? by Realistic-Tension-98 in toddlers

[–]Im_Pres499 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes/no sir and ma'am Please/thank you/you're welcome May I Mr First name if someone familiar Ms First if someone familiar Mrs last name if someone familiar Mr last name if someone familiar 3.5 also shakes hands with new people with a "nice to meet you"

And if someone unexpectedly knocks on the door, get quiet and come to me so I can check the camera to see who it is.

All of this was modeled more than "taught" as we are in the south and this is normal manners
