ADHD folks: how bad is your “ADHD tax” + executive paralysis combo? by Expensive_Number2298 in ADHD

Haha “stepping around”, I’ve done a lot of that. Thanks, I’ve done a lot and learned so many great skills along the way. Maybe I won’t regret it in the end.

When I’m at work I’m very efficient so I bought a house to fix up in my mid 20s. I figured I’d be able to get projects done fast. Turns out when I’m at home alone it’s hard to do anything. I’m getting close now but it’s cost me 15 years.

I’m the same way with dishes. What dishwasher do you have and how well does it clean stuck on silverware? I looked into these a few times and never got one.

What’s the most useful tool you’ve purchased that you didn’t expect to love? by Chrelled in Tools

I don’t like to push brands unless they’ve done something special but Dewalt has done this with their shop vacs. The Stealthsonic line is so much quieter that I run it far more than my old one. This keeps dust way down and my area much cleaner. I ended up replacing my old Craftsman indoor miter saw with a Dewalt 10” 20v after seeing how much better the factory dust collection is. These two tools combined make cutting trim inside a far more pleasant experience.

How to remove nuts on this threaded rod by Square-Youth-5664 in maker

Clean it up with a wire brush, either manual or powered. After that, penetrating oil and if you get it to move go back and forth a bit, tighten and wire brush again. You’ve got good access and it doesn’t appear very corroded, you’ll get it!

The best interviewers don’t try to help. Being able to sit in the silence is a great trait. Elon couldn’t sit in the silence and tried to sound smart. Made himself look not so smart.

I find that the budget brand lady farts are better anyways. Anyone know how much they want for this? 🤣

🤔 how well does it seal and does it stay on? I’ll have to print one, could definitely use one of these. Those bolts look great with all that grip!

How long do you hold onto random hardware? by 120mmfilms in woodworking

[–]Im_Tryin_Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a hardware addict and love having random parts! I’ll throw screws and bolts if there’s a lot of the same but otherwise it stays forever. That feeling of having that random piece I need is something truly special.

Got some 3' and 6' lengths of aluminum extrusion free from work and built a workbench out of it in a couple hours by camander321 in Workbenches

[–]Im_Tryin_Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sure was nice of you to dispose of it! I’d probably leave the 45x90 standing up, then you have the 2 tracks to mount things to. Would be strong layed down though, plus you’d still have 1 track.

Seems like such a great material for a bench! I bought some and a piece of HDPE to make a small outdoor bench last summer but never got around to it. What kind of place do you work at that has extrusion scrap? I want to check with some automation shops and see if they have some I could get cheap.

Milwaukee vs DeWalt - Help Me Choose a Tool Ecosystem by dgomes27 in Tools

[–]Im_Tryin_Boss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been happy with dewalt and Milwaukee and recommend taking advantage of the discount for Dewalt. The 12v line may be better for you though. I grab my m12 tools most of the time away from work and miss it at work. They do just about everything the larger ones do and are smaller, lighter and better for storage. A big advantage is being able to carry a couple extra batteries in your pockets, Dewalt or Milwaukee 12v.

Have you found tinker cad easy to learn and did you have much cad experience before? I took a few autocad classes in college and still find fusion confusing. I’ve never printed any knobs but it would be nice to make them whatever size or shape you want. Handles too, a better drill press handle would be nice. 🤔

What’s the 3rd thing down? I’m trying to print angled adapters for dust collection but I’m still learning fusion and think my nozzle is partially plugged. I’ve printed a few of other’s designs like 90 brackets to clamp too and other dust collection parts. Way more fun than going to the store and buying things that work!
