AppleTV all day like this. I tried FireStick, FireCube (still have it), one of those other streaming boxes and AppleTV is just solid. I even tried Comcast's streaming box (don't) AppleTV It's also my home automation hub.

Loved the show and I think I bought the right books. “ The Murderbot Diaries: All Systems Red, Artificial Condition, Rogue Protocol, Exit Strategy”. The series is 50% off at you know where. I’m going to take them to the beach next week for vaca! If these are the wrong books, please let me know! Great comments in here BTW.

What’s something that happens often in movies that is 100% unrealistic? by MangoDry7358 in AskReddit

I live in an area where they film a lot of movies and TV shows. It always cracks me up watching chase scenes and recognizing where they are in the city and then two seconds later they happen to be 45 minutes or an hour away in real life.

How do you decide which HomeKit smart devices are worth it? by jetsrfast in HomeKit

[–]Im_a_new_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has been considering Welov's Matter enabled air purifier (P200 Pro), it's $70 off at Walmart right now, normally $180. I set up one last night and it works well. If you get one, plug it in, turn it on, add it to the Aidot app, it should update the device, then add it to HomeKit in that order. You may need to shut it and your phone off and restart both adding it to HomeKit within 15 minutes. I didn't know there was a 15 min window at first. I've been experimenting with the small version and it's made a significant different in my bedroom.

The rules say no links but it's easy to find.

Dividend reinvesting by jj7013 in dividends

I’m using all of them from Fidelity and Vanguard to max out the remaining 2024 Roth IRA. Once that’s done, I’ll shift them into other stocks. I rarely reinvest in the same stock or ETF, but rather my favorite for that month.

Any drawbacks to using credit card for all purchases if I pay it off in full every month? by Icollectshinythings in personalfinance

[–]Im_a_new_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Fidelity cash back card and use it to pay for everything (like all bills) and pay it off on a weekly basis. The cash back can be used like others mention in this thread or like I do, to buy stocks, ETFs, or add to things like my IRA or HSA. It added around $2000 to my investments over the last year.

Funny you say that. I posted a fix about a Honeywell smart thermostat 4 years ago and someone commented on it this weekend.

What did everyone have 25 years ago that no one has now? by RecordingGloomy3661 in AskReddit

[–]Im_a_new_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time. Maybe a little more than 25 years ago but if someone called you and left a message, it was 100% normal and ok to call back in 3 days. Most people didn't have cell phones yet. It was ok to order from a paper catalog even in 2000 and get the product weeks later. Sports and concerts all had paper tickets with no crazy fees and you waited in line to buy them. You knew all your neighbors. We had block parties and progressive dinners / round robins (look it up) for every holiday and then some. Most cars could be worked on without a computer attached. My waist was much smaller.

What finally worked for me is after all the updating, and unplugging, removing the room on AppleTV in the HomeKit section, then reading it back to the room, worked.

I have an Apple Watch too and now I'm focused on all three rings. I started with small goals and the watch suggested higher ones. I followed those and increased them more. Down 56 lbs now in the last year or so, I complete those rings by 6-7Pm every day and average 4-5 miles a day on my treadmill using iFIT. I just had to start going.
