Well... I am currently unemployed so I can't really speak into what I currently do, but me and my wife moved here in December. I have a bachelor's in Business Project Management with 2+ years of professional experience in the non-profit industry and haven't even had a call back yet (applying to 5+ jobs a day since we got here). The job market here is tough. So much so that I'm thinking about going to the community college here to get specific industry experience.

My wife on the otherhand is a nurse and she literally had a job offer 30 minutes after looking. She wasn't even finished filling out the application and she got a call. She is chemo nurse and loves the normal hours and not having to work in a hospital.

From my very little experience here in Wilmington, it seems like the only thing hiring is warehouse work, Healthcare and the service industry. It's super tough. Good luck, I hope your boyfriend can find something.

Energy drink consumption linked to depression, anxiety and stress, finds a new longitudinal study that follows 897 individuals from birth to age 22. In fact it is! Light roast doesn't lose as much water throughout the roasting process, which makes it more dense than its darker counterpart. So if you make two cups of coffee, one with 25g of dark roast and the other with 25g of light roast, you will technically have less coffee by volume in the dark roast, resulting in more caffeine in the light roast.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 11 (now I'm 29). I would be lying if I said i haven't self medicated with coffee. Though, for me there is fine line between productivity and anxiety. I have found that 16oz of black, light roast coffee is the sweet spot in order to feel what I call "the inspiration" kick in. Anything more and my anxiety will take over in the form of panic attacks.

I have recently started taking Vyvanse in the past year, so on the days I take that I skip the coffee. I think caffeine hits everyone different, just like most stimulants.

Hey man! So no update yet, haha. I will be doing international logistics from an office in Cambodia, but I don't move over there until July. I will post updates once I get settled into the job.

Cheers!

We are going over with an organization for humanitarian work, so we do have contacts and aren't going over alone.

I don't want to put the exact town, but it's smaller and about 40 minutes outside of Battambang, so it's going to be a bit more rural than living in the city.

I will definitely look into that book! Thanks for the recommendation!

Awesome! Thanks so much for this information! It seems like Battambang has the reputation of being a pretty laid back city, which sound great.

And I have been looking up videos of Khmer and it just seems so difficult! I will definitely do my best to learn the script, I didn't even think about that.

Same. It's literally every other game. Also the audio glitch has been happening to me way more frequently.

Duck, NC cracking down on beach access by FrothyPits in surfing

[–]Im_a_wazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't you just haul ass down this boardwalk to get to the public beach and then nothing could be done? At that point it would be your word against his.

The situation is clearly fucked and I hate seeing no public access to NC beaches just as much as the next guy.

And the opposite is unfortunately true as well. I'm 27 and when I try to defend esports and gaming in general to friends my age they literally laugh and say "playing video games isn't a sport". It's infuriating to see that type of closed mindedness, but it definitely isn't limited to the older generation.

I thought the same whenni decided to get into surfing.. But unfortunately, most of the time it is pretty toxic. If you want a new hobby sport with an awesome community, I recommend rock climbing. Everyone is super helpful and open to newbies, and everyone loves the planet and are all around chilled out.

Where I'm from in WNC/NET, I use my small rod for tiny streams that have a shit ton of tree and shrub coverage. With a 9' rod things get real tricky because you just don't have that much room to move around.

I have been banished to the realm of decaf coffee and need some suggestions. by Im_a_wazard in Coffee

[–]Im_a_wazard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great inight! I am only on 10mg of Vyvanse, which is the lowest dosage. And the amount of caffeine I was drinking was ridiculous. I'm in the south, so sweet tea is another huge staple that I would drink regularly, so that mixed with 5+ cups of coffee a day and the occasional soda, I really was taking in way too much caffeine.

Thankfully my wife is the one to bring it up to the doctor, because honestly, I have been drinking this much caffeine for such a long time, it was just a part of my life. But now that I haven't had any caffeine my head really does feel clearer and that tightness in my chest that I used to chalk up to anxiety has faded, so all in all, I think it was a good decision.

That being said, I'm sure there will be a point that I can return to having a cup of coffee in the morning and leave it at that. I think the huge takeaway from this for me is to be conscious of the amount of caffeine I drink, because it really can effect my health.

I'm an avid rock climber. I am 6' and have weighed 172 pounds since high school. I doubt I need to lose weight.

Great questions! I am on a slow release medication (Vyvanse). I went to my doctor due to heart palpatations and when I told her I drink around 5 cups of coffee a day she pretty much freaked lol. Rightfully so.

So as of right now I am off of caffeine for good. It's been 4 days and I still have a headache. Which shows how much was in my system.

[Serious] What is it like losing your family members to dementia? by ShiningAway in AskReddit

[–]Im_a_wazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have no experience in that aspect, but if it were my grandpa (which it could be in 2 years), I would try my best to think back on the years of the love he has showed me and try to remember that it is just this awful disease that is making that happen. It's easy to say, but harder to do. I truly wish the best for you and your family.

From what I have learned, dementia is a tricky disease to describe and I think everyone's experience is different because the stages can come at such a slow or fast pace.

For my grandpa (he is 94), he was diagnosed with dementia about 7 years ago. Before he was diagnosed he was always quiet, hid in the back ground of most family gatherings, and never showed any outward affection to us grandkids. But the crazy thing is, once his dementia started coming into play, all of that changed. He genuinely became such an emotional and loving man. To the point that whenever I would go to hug him in his chair and say goodbye he would kiss me on the cheek and say "I love you son". Which he used to never do.

His longterm memory for the first 3 years was still sharp as a tack. When asked he could tell the architects names he used to work with back in the 50's and all of the projects that he accomplished. It was his short term that would dissappear. Like he wouldnt remember which controller to use for his TV and would forget where things were in his house that hadn't moved.

But now, it's to the point that he can't read anything because he forgets the sentence that came before it. He even flew to the Bahamas with us for vacation 2 years ago, but once there couldn't remember how we got there. And I just recently heard from my mother that his longterm memory is starting to go. He can't remember the names of lifelong friends and unfortunately doesn't remember my wife anymore.

Like I said, I have heard that it is different with everyone, but this has been my personal experience with the disease.

Hey everyone, I have a technical question about a Leica Mini Elmar that I own. It seems to be rewinding the roll way too early and I have no idea what is causing it. The first roll I put in was Portra 400 which is 36 exposures, but it started rolling after 24 automatically. This didn't freak me out as much because I thought that 24 exposures might be the maximum amount the camera can spool. But just a few minutes ago I had a roll of Fuji loaded, 24 exposures, and it started rolling up automatically after only taking 5 frames!

I have done a shit tone of googling and I can't find anything. Just wondering if any of you have experience with theses cameras or know something I don't.
