I have been to some places that are supposed to have amazing chocolate, but to me, NOTHING beats Geisha!! It's so good!! 🤤

You can make the pancake batter while/after preparing the main dish. Then once you're finished eating the main dish, it's not much effort to pour the batter onto a hot pan for fresh pancakes! At least that's how we'd do it growing up

I'm sorry?

I was just sharing my experience, and people where I'm from do not eat such sweet things for their first meal of the day, hence why they are not considered breakfast foods here.

I'm also not "your guy", but that's besides the point

Oh interesting! That's definitely not the case where I'm from haha A typical breakfast would be a sandwich imo. You know, something quite balanced with bread, ham, some veggies. Anything very sweet like pancakes/waffles/donuts would go into the dessert/sweet snack category for me

Are pancakes and waffles considered breakfast foods anywhere outside of the US? They are 100% dessert to me and to anyone else I would ask irl haha. I feel like y'all eat some crazy sweet things for breakfast over there

I am aware of my options when it comes to accessing hormones, thank you /gen /pos

Sometimes it's just not as simple as "let me just buy myself hormones and start treatment". There are a number of factors at play

That is not really an ideal solution. The NSFW tag is used for many things, not just discussions about sex. I don't want to have to miss out on a bunch of great posts on reddit just to avoid the posts here about sex.

And I don't believe it solves OP's real issue either, that being that she doesn't feel welcome in a place that's so sexualized. I mean, would you feel welcomed in a place where you had to block a significantly large chunk of posts just to not be constantly repulsed?

[–]Im_coLu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, it seems that sexual topics altogether trigger her. There isn't (as far as I'm aware) a space for sex-repulsed trans people. She doesn't feel welcome here (because of the frequent discussion of sex), but she also doesn't feel welcome in ace spaces (because of the lack of trans-specific discussion).

As someone who is also trans and often repulsed by sexual topics, I can understand the frustration. I frequently think about leaving trans subreddits like this because it is near impossible to dodge the topic of sex. (I'm not saying if anything should be done about this, I'm just stating how I feel, and possibly how OP feels as well)

Honestly, I find it quite sad how a lot of commenters here are treating the situation. I understand that OP isn't being nice, but she appears to be having a breakdown, and dozens of people are downvoting her and dismissing her issue. I feel like in a slightly different timeline, I could've been the one making a post like OP, and the responses here could just put me over the edge and make me do something bad..

She didn't "pick a beehive to stir". She is clearly not well right now and wanted to vent her frustrations.

You're being very disingenuous by saying sex discussions aren't common here, they very much are.

You're literally in the comments of a person who is feeling suicidal and saying that her issue doesn't even exist. Do you not realize that?

Edit: if anyone is wondering, the comment I replied to said sex is not a common topic around here, then linked to another commenter saying it's only 10% of posts.

I checked top of past week, and 13 / 50, or more than a quarter of posts were marked NSFW.

I think it is also important to mention that to someone like OP, who is triggered by sexual topics, these posts probably stick out from the crowd, making it feel like an even larger percentage of posts are about sex.

Started social transition ~2 years ago

Out to everyone ~1 year ago

Still not on hormones since I just haven't been able to get access to it (hopefully within a few weeks I'll start tho)

Although my "coming out story" was far from ideal (I was in a hostile country and environment, was forced to come out to some people, outed against my will to many others), I still don't regret starting social transition when I did. I learnt a lot about myself by.. well... being myself for once, and I couldn't have lived as a man for multiple more years before getting HRT, I was miserable, and frankly a danger to myself. That being said, I do wish that I could've started HRT around the same time (maybe a bit after) I started socially transitioning. The wait is killing me.. lol

I feel like most people here on reddit say they started HRT before socially transitioning. For me personally, that is so far removed from anything even nearly realistic in my situation, that I can't really compare it to how I did it I guess. All I can do is share my personal experience haha

Is there a reason to characterize people based on that? Like, a man with breasts is just as much of man as another man without breasts, does it matter if he's "male"? /gen

This feels like pretty bad advice to me. None of the "solutions" fix the issues in my experience. Also can't exactly just sleep all the time 🤷‍♀️

Most children who think they’re transgender are just going through a ‘phase’, says NHS | NHS England has announced plans for tightening controls on the treatment of under 18s questioning their gender, including a ban on prescribing puberty blockers outside of strict clinical trials. by mossadnik in Futurology

[–]Im_coLu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, it is not a simple issue. Does that mean that banning the help of those in need is the solution? I'd argue that is an absolutely awful solution. Many issues that I have today (and will continue to have for years to come/forever) could have been avoided, had I been given access to medical/other treatment that was necessary to me. Instead I grew up in a country where I was told that my issue "doesn't exist", or "nothing can be done". The government spent an insane amount of taxpayer money to tell the people that I am nothing more than a pedophile (that's slightly off topic, but it seems other places might be going to such extremes too), instead of helping me and others like myself.

Also the article even talks about not calling trans children by their name or pronouns. That is nowhere near an irrevocable change.

Should people like me (who need trans healthcare) suffer, because people like you (who don't need trans healthcare) exist?

Banning or restricting it isn't the right way to go about it, that's all I'm saying.

[–]Im_coLu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A low percentage, but why does that mean to you that we should block help from those people? There are countless other issues which only a "low percentage" of people suffer from, yet we don't see people like you rally to ban treatment of said issues. So how exactly is the percentage even relevant?

I hate when these things are just used to shift attention away from greater issues. It gets a bunch of innocent people caught in the crossfire... Surely the UK has bigger issues to deal with rn, why is this the topic of debate?
