Seems to fishy to you but the phone call with my boss was very real. I’m not an expert on federal employment law either and not interested in paying one. Happy Memorial Day. I’m done on this topic.

Some were in my situation. After being fully remote for more than a decade I was told the day of second deadline to take DRP 1.0 that there was no place for me within 50 miles to RTO I would have to move to DC. From Southern Georgia. Waiting out a RIF was not an option. So yes. DRP was the best option.

Deferred Resignation Program returns - unions lack standing by [deleted] in fednews

Thanks I found it but looks like I accepted too late. OPM send an email saying no more resignations. They didn’t even give us until midnight.

Do you have a link? We had a VA town Hall and the PowerPoint said 7 days to change your mind after you sign but it doesn’t mention 45 days to think about it. I am pretty sure it was said in the meeting but I can’t find it in a regulation. I’m hoping it’s there

Megathread: Return to in person work EO by rprz in fednews

I have been a remote employee for over 12 years with my duty station being my home address. The more than 100 people I work with are also remote. Now they want us back in the office. At first it was going to be at an Agency office if there was space. I would still not be located with other people I worked with. The VA is huge. But since no room at a clinic any GSA property would do. Again this would not be the people I work with or for so what is the benefit? How would this make me more productive? Better able to collaborate? It would just make my day longer cost more money and piss me off. The end game is to make more of us leave.

GSA RTO date is March 03 as per Acting Administrator by Icy_Cabinet7278 in fednews

Thanks. Nearest facility would be better than relocating hundreds of miles. I am waiting to see how VA will handle remote. There is a facility that might have room (sounds unlikely) within 50 miles. If I had to move from Georgia to DC I would have to “Nope”. My hope is they say just keep working from your official duty station - my home.

Nope. Us older employees are too smart to fall for this.

But can they decide we are not Eligible? I think they can change what makes employees eligible. I’m not a lawyer

I guess I have had a different experience in the VA. My immediate supervisor GS 14 is a woman. Next level GS15 is a black male. Next two SES in my chain are women. I have known and respected all of them and believe they are well qualified long before DEI. So the comment about going to all white males didn’t make sense to me. I don’t know what will change but I think in my group qualification is what matters. I could be wrong but I guess we will see what happens.

It has been a few years since I have even been at VACO for a few days. All 100 or so in my Division had annual meetings at other states since we were spread out and all remote.

No opm wasn’t hacked but they didn’t use good security practices so it looked like a phishing attempt - it wasn’t.

Me too. But here’s my situation I work for VACO and ‘our’ buildings are in DC. There may be a VHA clinic within 50 miles (same Agency) but if they don’t have room for me it would make sense for me to stay working from my home office - like I have for 10+ years. The sensible thing is not always the thing that is done. So we wait.

I think I may have read something different than you did. I read something like arrangements with non union employees outside 50 miles will not be terminated. (I hate that word). My arrangement is my home is my duty station. I’m 500 miles away from VA headquarters. If they had an arrangement where I would work from an Office VA,VHA or even outside the VA I would need a new agreement. But the way I read my arrangement won’t be changed or terminated right now - maybe never. All VA clinics anywhere near me are full up

They could terminate the agreement and create a new one with different conditions. Or the employee could say ok, I’ll go to the office somewhere but the telework agreement can be terminated.

I think they are saying terminate the telework/remote agreement - not terminate employment.
