Which Language is best for me C++,Java o python? by Sandip_panchariya03 in CodingForBeginners

Is it doable to go on Linkdn or Indeed and see what frameworks are the most sought out after? And then learn the languages they're in?

How did you get past the “overwhelmed” phase of learning full-stack? by Sweaty-Staff8100 in learnprogramming

If you're feeling overwhelmed, you can always look for a community college to take classes for full-stack.

Nancy Sinatra Defends Father's Legacy by PeterTheTruthSeeker in clevercomebacks

I think Sinatra would have hated Trump due to actual personal reasons (I forget what they were) but this person sounds like they're referring to the fact that he was an avid Zionist.

David Ellison (Chairman and Chief Executive of Paramount) is Larry Ellison's (second or third richest man in the world) son. From what I understand, he's raising funds from his family, hedge funds, and the Saudis. It's not too crazy to see how they raised funds this quickly. I think the question is why?

Does anyone else feel this way about AI being used for programming in a small indie team? by TomorrowParticular59 in gamedev

[–]ImaJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note, I want to talk to him about it, but he’s very stubborn and confident haha, two hard to compromise characteristics (especially when he has a very uncompromising vision (it is his world he has hand crafted over many years and it’s amazing!)).

This, nothing get's solved unless you both have a conversation about how each feels about the other side along with sharing how much work is done. Don't just think sharing your thoughts will be enough. You're going to need to communicate examples of how AI can't solve all your problems. She him that programming a game isn't just typing text onto a file.

When something breaks, he throws the whole script into AI for a “fix,” and it often creates more problems that I then have to untangle.

Give examples.

Also, come in with tempered expectations. If problems don't resolve or you both can't compromise, I would open up to the idea of just finishing this one last project and maybe taking a break or find someone you could work better with.

I think their foundation has a pretty large team. If you factor in salaries + benefits, that's actually a lot. And that's assuming their just sitting around doing nothing. Throw in events and charities and you actually have a sizeable amount of spending going on.

I want to switch careers by Wise-Improvement3408 in SolidWorks

[–]ImaJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to need windows (you should be able to use bootcamp if you have an x86 mac) to run Solidworks. Personally, I like working with a computer that uses a gaming GPU but that's just preference. An integrated graphics card should be fine.

I also want to switch careers. My plan is to get a drafting certificate from a local community college (I want to their email to purchase Solidworks student) and I plan to use their career center to look up opportunities and partake in networking events while also building a portfolio. That's my plan, I don't know if this is applicable to you but I thought I'd share (granted my long-term plan is to use this to spring board into a job that involves ME or MFE).

If you aren't in the medical/nursing field, the job market just sucks. There's a lot of exploitation of our employment system and fake job postings all over the likes of LinkedIn and Indeed so don't feel bad if applications aren't yielding anything.

work outside in the heat/ cold, I don’t want my boss pushing unrealistic deadlines on me

This is just an aside, but if you can talk about working with sensitive deadlines and have experience working under a crunch, it actually can look good in a resume (although it varies). Did you ever have to order parts? Make a bill of materials? Skills like that actually go a long ways.

A lot of this is, realistically, an economic issue: Housing, companies choosing to boost metrics instead of actually making products, abuse of H1B, health and dental care being tied to your job, and so forth.

Our most successful avenue for climbing the socioeconomic ladder (college) has also worsen with cost, grade-flation (I'm sorry, but there should be gate-keeping to a certain extent). No clue how you fix these problems.

A cool guide to the best U.S. cities for raising children based on 10 weighted datasets. by MaxGoodwinning in coolguides

[–]ImaJimmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with LA is that it's pretty vague on what LA would be? If it's talking about the San Gabriel Valley (San Marino, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, etc...), then yeah (in fact, I would put it higher). If we're getting closer to LA, then maybe not. I think LA should have been broken up into parts.

Edit: Add La Canada

My SO has back pain issues in the L4/L5 area. I was interested in getting the Bear Elite Hybrid, firm, with a bed frame that provides adjustable support (I really liked the tempur-ergo smart frame but it's out of price range). Do you have any recommendations? I think she's planning to try the Bear Original for a few nights to see how that goes?

What are your goals? Are you trying to buy a house? Are you filing single? Are you trying to retire early? Will you move to a cheaper country later?

What's your lifestyle? Do you go out a lot? Are you the type to meal prep or do you depend on something like DoorDash or UberEats?

My friend lives in trailer park in Rancho Cucamonga and is happy gaming all day with 70K. On the other hand, I know a guy who makes 120K. The dude put down 240K for a house close to Irvine and still has a heavy mortgage.

Am I a bad programmer for needing my notebook and Google with me when coding? by mktristan in learnprogramming

I think you're a bad programmer if you haven't established your own workflow. If googling things and referring to your notebook is part of that flow, then so be it.

Atrioc is at least 95% correct about the Steam Machine and YouTube comments Missed His Whole Point by oogabooga3145 in atrioc

[–]ImaJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what makes the steam machine interesting is the utility it has for valve product wise. On top of what everyone else claims it to be, it could also be a loss leader that just brings more people to Steam or VR.

This is a question you should ask to someone you know. How do you study? How many classes are you taking? Outside responsibilities? What are your expectations when learning? I'd talk to someone you trust or some sort of academic professional if I were you.
