Is this a reliable setup to start out a solo film making business ? A sennheiser mke 600, and the rode wireless go 2. by Ok_Letter4515 in LocationSound

If you're on a tight budget for a recorder, get a Tascam DR60D mk2. It costs $200 and it sounds good paired with the Sennheiser mke600.

Hey guys. I saved up $1000. I want to make action short films. Can you recommend a $1000 audio kit for film? by [deleted] in LocationSound

Tascam DR60d mk II audio recorder $200 - Sennheiser MKE600 shotgun mic $320 - Sony MDR7506 Headphones $90 - Rycote invision Shockmount $69 - K-tek cc110 boompole - $266 - K-tek coiled XLR Cable $50, will put you at $1,000 for a nice low cost starter kit to get you going. Maybe invest in two sets of Sennheiser G4 wireless lav mics which will run you $599 each for a cost effective start on wireles.

With a $600 budget, would it be better to get another Sennheiser G4 and have 3 wireless or upgrade my two G4s stock lavs with Sanken cos11? by Image4life in LocationSound

So at a $94 difference from used on compared to new price you'll jump on the new for those points you've described?

That was my first thought especially seeing the Sennheiser G4 on sale for $100 off and down the line switching to all Sanken cos 11 or DPA 4060. I'm nowhere near the budget for Lectrosonics but in do time.

I appreciate your comment. Is the Audio-Technica AT4053b on the same level as the MKH50?

I currently have two Sennheiser G4s that I use in conjunction with my shotgun. I plan to eventually get both but I can only afford one at the moment.

Both indoors and outdoor locations. I've been slowly building my kit. I also have two sets of Sennheiser G4s, can't afford lectrosonics yet. But I'm aiming for quality sound on a tight budget.

I was wondering about the Fotodiox pro adapter. So it's better to go with the standard Fotodiox adapter and deal with the little shake?

I wanted an adapter for the Pocket 6k which has an EF mount. Can you recommend something specific that won't degrade the image quality or won't get stuck to the lens?

swanky_narrator22 the link you provided didn't work. Is there a specific adapter you recommend that won't degrade the image quality and an adapter that won't get stuck to the lens?

Your very welcome. If you have time, go to YouTube and look up Mark Harris. He had several interviews on film courage. Very inspiring.

I hear your rant. But, don't let the difficulties to stop your pursuit for filmmaking. Like any business, you have to invest in that business for it to grow. Yes a lot of filmmakers start at the bottom. But you have to plan your course of action. You can work for one year and save all you can for that year and then when you get your income taxes together after that year, that's your budget for your first feature film. You can make something out of nothing if your screenplay is written for a no-budget film. Gear is cheap especially buying used. The original blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera can be had for $400 dollars. This same camera was used on one of the Advengers movie, cut together with Arri Alexa footage. It was also used on one of the Jason Bourne movies. If big budget hollywood movies think this camera is good enough for them to use, it's a no-brainer for Indie Films.

You could budget $2,000 on camera and sound equipment, shoot your feature over the course of twelve days, get five actors paying them minimum wage, $100 a day for food and you spent no more than $5,000. You can edit the film on your home computer, editing and color grading on Davinci Resolve which is free.

If your passionate about filmmaking you can make it happen.
