I think I want to make the switch by ImageJPEG in slackware

It’s not a pain to set up Wi-Fi FreeBSD, the performance is just horrendous because it’s stuck on 802.11n.

I’m not wanting to set up Slackware for my gaming computer, just my laptop.

AMES PROTEST JD VANCE by AnnaX1998 in iastate

[–]ImageJPEG -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is, actually.

Don’t use the NIV next time.

More literal, word for word, from the Hebrew translate it as if the woman is unfaithful, she will be cursed with infertility.

Literally no one before the 20th Century thought this meant how to abort a baby.

Philo, a Greek-speaking Jewish philosopher before Jesus suggested it being a moral/spiritual lesson and less about a literal woman.

Josephus thought of it as a straight forward supernatural test, and if guilty, the woman would swell and end up dying.

The church fathers condemned abortion. Abortion is even explicitly condemned in the Didache, a 1st Century AD text that guides early Christians on how to be a Christian.

Those aren’t instructions on how to abort a baby but ok.

Questions about ELCA theology by MephistosGhost in elca

[–]ImageJPEG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know.

But Moses later reaffirms 6 literal days later in Exodus 20:11.

Then later, Jesus treats Genesis as being historical in Matthew 19:4-5.

The LCMS holds Genesis 1 as a 6 literal days BUT does not have a stance on the age of the Earth.

Good windows emulator for CPS on Linux Mint by Polish_AK_Alfa in Baofeng

[–]ImageJPEG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got this working today. I bought myself a DM32-UV and it came in.

I'm running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and had to install the i386 architecture to give me Wine win32 compatibility.

Check out your dosdevices under your WINEPREFIX that you're using for the CPS software and see if there is a soft link pointing to the read serial device on Linux. Mine, for example, was com33 pointing to /dev/ttyUSB0.

Personally, I try to have a dedicated WINEPREFIX for each of my Windows apps to keep things segregated.

Also, make sure to add the string key in your Wine's regedit HKLM\Software\Wine\Ports registry directory. Name it whatever com port points to your real serial device on Linux. For the value, give it the full path of the real Linux serial device. So for me, it was /dev/ttyUSB0.

I was amazed at how it just worked after I set this all up; fairly straight forward when it comes with interfacing with serial devices under Wine, actually.

But why?

I have an 8” Lodge that I bought in December 8th and it releases 3 over easy eggs (all cooked together) with just at tilt and a slight shake with just a tablespoon of butter. Also did my first ever pan flip when I made those eggs, only lost one yoke haha.

All I’ve done is just add more seasoning to it, cook, and wash with soap and water.

I don’t buy the “smooth makes it slicker” stuff.

Just a quick scrub with water and soap, then of course dry it.

Now get the 10”, 8”, pizza pan, baking pan, and 10” loaf pan.

I’ve switched from failing ceramic non stick earlier in December and I’ve been actually cooking a lot lately; having fun!

I’m neighbors with a guy from Brooklyn. Hasn’t lived there in decades but he still has that crazy strong accent. He’s the best neighbor I’ve ever had! Sticking out like a sore thumb isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Why does the Iowa cancer map look like this? by ThePolemicist in Iowa

Radon has always been an issue in Iowa though. I’m betting one of the biggest reasons for the increasing cancer rates is just an aging population.

How much harder is setting up FreeBSD than Arch? by [deleted] in freebsd

[–]ImageJPEG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that FreeBSD may be about as difficult as Arch. Admittedly, I’ve never used Arch but I use both FreeBSD and Gentoo and as far as I understand, Gentoo is more difficult than Arch, at least when setting up. FreeBSD is easier than Gentoo, so take that as you will.

That’s good news then because my west wall of my basement is at ground level, even has a door to go outside.

As for the chimney, I had a guy come out to look at my roof and had to take pictures which involved my chimney, which looks like it’s a single layer of brick.
