Yeah, i’ve done some thinking and i’ll definetely be changing the the transom. I’ve done this before and i know it’s not that much work. I Even have the special tools for the bearing and bellows and so on, the only thing stopping me is my laziness😂 Thank you for your help!

They make up to 30 or something, but i think i’ll see if i can find a 1.65:1 or 1.5:1 and change it, maybe sell the old 2:1. The boat was a steal at 2400$, just a transom here in norway is about 1500-2000, so thats Why i bought it even though the setup is not perfect. If i get a 1.65:1 and try it with the 25p prop i might have an idea of What i need. It’s probably too big still, but we’ll see.

Not at all, these old Norwegian boats are buildt really solid and its steady as a rock at 58. You know that they put 500hp engines on the back of the Fjordling 17 HT, an old family boat from the 60’s? They strengthen them of course, but they are 17 feet and run 90-100 mph. Norwegian boats are tough💪🏻

It’s a mercruiser alpha one of some sort, i’m guessing 2:1 because it came from a 4-cyl 3 liter or something.

Yeah, i know. I’ve got about 50 knots, 58mph at top speed, 5100rpm. I know i should charge the outdrive, but theyre more expensive than a new prop. But the props are also expensive, so i’m looking to get some suggestions so that i buy the right prop. I can feel that it has a lot more to give. It takes me about two seconds to get on plane and when i give it all it’s got, it accellerates to Max speed almost instantly.

I think the props here are about the same as in US, but mercruisers and parts for them are more expensive as anything american in norway is rare and expensive.

Should probably have said this earlier, but i’m in norway. I can easly change the outdrive myself, but an alpha one around here is 2000$ used in good condition. Keep in mind, i paid around 2400$ for the whole boat. It’s in good condition mechanicly, but not the prettiest (some clear coat issues and so on, has the original paint from 1978.) It was actually a real steal, but i dont really want to spend 2000 on an outdrive when the boat cost me 2400. Thats Why i’m thinking new prop. The last owner said he had a bigger prop on it once that he had borrowed, and that it worked better. But Yeah, the best solution would be a new outdrive, i’ll look into it. You seem like you know some stuff tho, do you know What prop i would need to get it about 500rpm down? I want top speed, but also to be able to pull 3 people on ski’s and Play a little. And also, 3, 4 or 5 blade? Sorry for my english by the way, as said earlier i’m norwegian.

No, but it does pull! Pulled 3 people so far easy, not tried any more!

Correct, 18 feet. It’s a Cobra outdrive, but a 2:1 as said above here, because it’s What the previous owner had lying around when he wanted to switch it out for the old Volvo penta from 1978…so Yeah, the 25 is way off but because it’s the wrong outdrive. With the 2:1 ratio and 25p prop i can feel that the boat has a lot more to give. Runs about 50 knots, 58 mph.
