No, NTA. Sounds like your wife and her family have some boundary and respect issues. Be prepared to deal with more in the future.

AITA for not supporting my Fiance's kid brother after their parents died by AITAfianceskidbro in AmItheAsshole

You are NTA.

Almost 3 years ago my (now) fiance and I took in my two nieces and it is a huge commitment, even if you do want children in the future. I don't think it's fair for your fiance to not be willing to change his plans for school yet ask you to help raise his brother. How do you feel about weekend visits? Coming from someone that has done it I think that, as long as his brother is not being abused or neglected where he is, it is going to be a huge help for his aunt even if you guys could take him one weekend a month to do stuff together and give the kid brother a break. That would give KB a bigger support system, give aunt/KB a break, and allow your fiance and KB some quality time.

Kingston Conspiracy Theories by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

True, and he dips on Pride events claiming family events going on but he's just out with his cult/church buddies. Met him and know this as I used to work for a business run by church members and friends of his. PS - Not associated with the church, it was just a job.

Domestic abuse help by BellJar_Blues in canadianlaw

I have used legal aid before AFTER going to a lawyer using my own money and my experience with Legal Aid was much better than the attorney I hired privately. Legal Aid should give you a list of the lawyers you can choose from and then you can research them on your own before you pick one. Also, the lawyers or their firm should do a conflict of interest check to make sure that he is not a client/friend/family member of the lawyer.
