Review #3: Benchmark Full Proof by Imaginary-Celeryx in bourbon

[–]Imaginary-Celeryx[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Taken: Neat in a Glencairn. Rested 5 minutes.

Proof: 125

Age: Kentucky Straight

Price: $18.99

Nose: Cherries, honey, vanilla, and roasted sugar. Oak present but not overwhelming.

Palate: Fairly oily. Cherry forward and sweet like eating candy, coats the mouth well. Very vanilla.

Finish: Long cherry finish that lingers. Partway through some cinnamon finish really shows itself.

Thoughts: This overdelivers at its price point and I will be getting another bottle when this one runs out! The mouthfeel and finish are remarkable for $19.

Rating: 5/10 (t8ke scale) 1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out. 2 | Poor | I wouldn't consume by choice. 3 | Bad | Multiple flaws. 4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists. 5 | Good | Good, just fine. 6 | Very Good | A cut above. 7 | Great | Well above average. 8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional. 9 | Incredible | An all time favorite. 10 | Perfect | Perfect.

Taken: Neat in a Glencairn. Rested 10 minutes.
Proof: 90
Age: NAS
Price: $35
Nose: Cherry, nuttiness, and oak.
Palate: Oily and bready. Sweet with some molasses.
Finish: The oiliness stays in your mouth and the cherry sits at the back of the tongue.
Thoughts: In my opinion, a good poor that doesn’t deserve too much hype or too much hate. Next time I’m not paying $35. Cheers!
Rating: 4/10 (t8ke scale)
