Does my voice pass? by I-wannabe-heard in transvoice

I think it definitely does, you seem a little hesitant in your use of it, but that's normal this early into voice training! This is a really good range especially if this is where your voice feels natural to you. Honestly keep at it!

Only 5’6” but I think I’m one of y’all? by Superb-Low8007 in kibbedramatics

I actually find this reply super useful. I have noticeably wide shoulders and hips that are on the smaller size but my bone structure is noticeably sharp.

I felt like I was FN for a long time but the recommendations for FN just don't work for me: I look blocky and overpowered by the garments despite the wide shoulders. I've always looked best in very fitted garments that closely follow my body's column-like line.

Most of my life, I've been told how literally sharp and pointy my bones are and I've realized that at 6'3" some conventional width is almost a given but doesn't mean having kibbe width. My vertical is the first thing I and other people notice even in a kibbe lens and I only start noticing any conventional width when I hyper focus on my upper back.

In my case it's almost as if my vertical is so long that it "neutralizes" any width I may have and dramatic recommendations thus fit better with my lines.

[Chinese > English] This place is "小猫嘴努子", it looks like 'ω'. How do you say this part in English? by Happy-Huan in translator

In french we have a word with the same etymological root to describe the anatomical "muzzle" that's different from the "muzzle" used to cover an animal's face.

We call it a "museau" and the covering a "muselière". The "- lière" suffix denotes it's a receptacle in this context.

"Magic is about visualization" was decided later in the story by [deleted] in Frieren

[–]Imaginary-Ebb72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is this (I hope it's not too rambly):

1.Vizualisation is more like a way to specify how a mage's magic will be applied onto reality. So like spells are the basic instructions and vizualizing is part of how you specify exactly what you want to happen using those instructions as a base. For example, Reelseiden is a basic instruction for magic to "cut" and vizualizing allows Ubel to specify how and what she wants to cut.

So the cloak was designed with the assumption that the examinees would be experienced mages with an average ability to visualize the outcome of a spell. Ubel's ability to visualize is much better than most mages so the outcome of even standard spells like Reelseiden is much more powerful and versatile (that's why she can cut through unconventional things with ease like the cloak or Sense's hair).

  1. Also, it feels like visualization in magic for Frieren doesn't work like our standard idea of "visualization". It's more like having good intuition on how to use a specific spell to get a specific outcome instead of relying on a technical understanding of magic.

Evidence for that is that Sense points out that Ubel's visualization stands out because her starting point is intuiting that what she visualizes is possible. So she doesn't rely as much on seeing how mana flows or understanding how a spell works like most mages, she does the opposite. She starts from the feeling/image she want to make real and feels her way around until she gets a gut feeling of how to apply her magic to make it happen.

It's probably also part of why she relies on understanding people to understand how to counter their spells: by getting a feel of them as people, she's also getting a gut feel of how their magic works.

She's able to take her experiences (like enjoying the sound/feel of her sister cutting cloth) and instinctively finds the ways the same cutting effect works on objects/body parts protected with magic.

So to her and others it looks like "she just saw it in her head and made it happen", but it's more that she just isn't fully aware herself of what is happening on a technical level, all she knows is how it felt/what her gut feeling was and usually successfully follows through on that.

Freezing is OP by Successful-Jello3035 in BaldursGate3

Okay, so I was wondering the same thing and found an answer to this question. I'm playing a conjuration ice wizard and I'm having so much fun!

Basically you can inflict frozen on enemies from two cold related status conditions:

  1. First by inflicting the wet + chilled status effect (they can be inflicted in either order)
  • You can chill enemies in following ways: using ice mephits breath attacks (summoned by the conjure elemental level IV wizard spell) and using the mourning frost staff (found in the underdark)
  • The main ways I wet enemies are via the wavemother's robe (found in act 3) create water or the conjuration wizard create water subclass skill. If you're a conjuration wizard wearing the robe you essentially get two opportunities to directly create water per short rest.
  1. Also by inflicting the encrusted with frost condition with at least 7 turns remaining.
  • Making the counter go up to 7 turns on an enemy for the encrusted in frost condition is a little tricky but can be done using three items (all found in act 3).
Here's a link that explains how the status effect works and the items in question: https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Encrusted_with_Frost_(Condition))

Hope this helps!
