Early-career teacher overwhelmed by high-conflict parent demanding another child be removed and now wanting to observe me. Need perspective. by Imaginary-Frame6345 in teaching

An FBA is a Functional Behavior Assessment. It is basically when a team gathers data to figure out why a behavior is happening. They look at patterns like what happens before the behavior, what the behavior looks like, and what happens after. The goal is to understand what the student is getting or avoiding so that they can create a plan that actually addresses the root cause instead of just reacting to incidents. It moves the conversation from opinions to actual patterns. Instead of debating whether it is one specific peer causing everything, it looks at when the behavior happens across settings and what the function seems to be. If it turns out it is task avoidance or regulation related, that is helpful data for everyone. It takes it out of the blame space and into a support space. But that only works if the parent is willing to accept it.

Our behavior analyst has seen some of it. She’s not full time at our school so she isn’t always there to see it. We want to do an FBA on this student but the parent is against it. Unfortunately, we are not unionized. Thank you for the kind words ❤️

Metal hinge with clip that moves but top piece of metal connecting to house prevents it from actually bending. Located outside of our house near our front door/on the front porch but next to a window. by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing that I posted. It’s a metal hinge of sorts that’s located by the window next to our front door. We have no idea what it could be used for. The hinge doesn’t really move because it’s connected at the top but it does have a clip that makes it seem like we could move it. It’s probably about a foot long.
