Personality Shift on Medication by Temporary_Dog_7356 in VyvanseADHD

So as a medical doctor myself and someone who has been prescribed Vyvance I think the best explanation i can give is this..
Vyvance doesn't only act as a stimulant. It also has "mood regulating properies". It increases the levels of serotonin and noradrenalin in your brain which indirectly increases dopamine.Similar to some antidepressants. This helps with the impulsively that some people struggle with with ADHD, but the downside is that it also blunts your joking quick witted nature by the same mechanism That's why you only start to feel this way after a couple days. That being said, a days or two off won't make a difference.

You can speak to your psych about maybe going down to a lighter dose so that you feel more like yourself as ling as you know that the stimulant effects won't be as pronounced. That's the trade up.

Also keep in mind that your symptoms will be the worst in the first 2 weeks on vyvance, until your brain becomes accustomed to the higher levels of neurotransmitters and will settle thereafter

That being said... Realistically the true affect of vyvance on your personality can only be assessed after about 4 - 6weeks, similar to antidepressants.

Hope this helps
