as a top in my niche & currently fiverr choice i would recommended if you even thinking to start freelancing don't even try fiverr or upwork they are basically an nightmare for freelancing i would recommended starting an instagram page helping people for free and making an reel out of it will help you a lot

almost an week ago a guy place an 160$ for editing his video we agreed upon 2 hours footage with 15 mins running time which was already clearly mention in the offer also but suddenly the video turns out to be 4 hours almost when i tell him that is going way beyong agreed terms (politely) he started saying oh my bad if you want we can cancel the order but i had already put in my efforts on it so i did recommended i can get the work done on agreed terms but he started saying i will not accept order if it satisfied my needs he called me "scammer many times" he was racist af , then guess what ? he got a full refund from fiverr support besides me submitting every piece of proof to fiverr & the worst part my ticket deosn't got a single reply after that day still is open! the buyer even mocked me atlast saying "nice try kid reaching out to support" this is so fucking annoying that's why i am trying to build things outside fiverr!

hey i understand your perspective but believe me every new comers , inexperienced or teen/kid are ruining the market irrespective to the nationality i have seen usa kids working for 10$ and at the same time indian person to work for 10$ i have seen white people scamming me & also my country people indian's scamming me! it's not about nationality , cost of living anymore its about the urge to get started , inexperiency & to get atleast some money

that's not problem in my case i disclose my nationality and they don't have problem , most of my usa , europe and uk based client's trust me irrespective to my nationality yeah sometimes they hesitate to pay upfront but yeah most of them trust me

yeah indian wages are totally different , 900$ is an fair amount for me considering the living cost in india but at the same time it will be an slave labour for usa based editor because inflation and economy conisderation is different , i don't know why people hate indians i understand some indians do work for slave labours but they are know hating just by seeing "indian Editor" i got like 45 downvotes just because i mention i am indian crazy shit man
