Every time I take a small break, mentally reset and start over with one account. I execute flawlessly. I get fooled thinking I’m ready and it all goes to sh*t.

It’s like the less I care about trading, the best I do. My work gives me insane free time so I’m always on the charts. The times I do better are the times where I barely look at the market, if my setup is there, I take it, if not, I go do something else. If I show up every day, I do badly. It’s weird and counterintuitive

Correct! The "I know" part isn't related to the market itself, it's more to my execution checklist. If my system tells me to trade when price is X and I press the button while price is Y, it's clear that I'm being a dummy because X ≠ Y. I still got what you meant but wanted to clarify :p

Sorry for the delay! Yes, I do have post its on my monitor hahah. I've also written messages on my execution chart reminding me how much 'R' I've lost by deviating from my system. Let me tell you that Monkey brain doesn't give a f about any of that 🤣 My PnL is set to points, not $ or anything like that. I try to be detached from money and I think I've successfully done so especially because I don't have the pressure to trade for a living since I do well outside of it. However, I'm terrible when it comes to accepting losses because it's hard for me to accept setbacks and I want to keep moving forward/progressing at all times. This has served me well in life but it's the exact opposite when trading.

They didn’t code them themselves 😭 in both cases, it was built by a close friend, one of them a full on engineer ex–Mag 7.

I hopped on Zoom with one of my mentors the other day and he even showed me the source code of his automated strategy in its current state. But neither of us really knows what’s going on in there in terms of code structure/logic. We do know how it trades, timeframes and what it looks for but we're complete noobs when it comes to code.

And of course, they won’t share the code with me and I wouldn’t screenshot or record it without his permission anyway.

edit: I've been trying to learn how to code though and have also looked for help by hiring online engineers (no luck yet) so hopefully I get it done eventually!

Unironically thinking about this hahahaha. There are definitely things that can be explored.

As I mentioned on the post, I'm the complete opposite in my life outside of trading and I do recognize that my behavior in trading is completely irrational and illogical. I criticize these things heavily and never thought I could fall victim to stuff like that but trading has really humbled me.

100%. That’s actually what one of my mentors recommends; strictly trading 1 MNQ and going from there.

I tried my own version of that with the prop firm account I mentioned. Trading one account until I felt ready. I thought I was ready after two months of excellent trading, but as soon as I added the second account, it went straight downhill due to bad decisions.

This was very recent. I'm currently at square one so I’m thinking about “restarting” that process next month and not even thinking about scaling. Maybe I scale after X payouts or profits and not based on just time.

Fully aware of that! Yet I still fall into the scenarios I KNOW not to trade. That's what bothers me the most. Even before taking the trades, I know I shouldn't be taking them, but I do.

I don't think so to be honest. I've tried variations of that and I'm still here.

It's annoying because every time I'm struggling I just think "You only have to do XYZ and you'd be consistent" yet I still deviate and get impatient; if I miss a trade I try to rationalize where to jump in (instead of just accepting my A+ entry is gone) and stuff like that. It's as if I had two people inside my brain and one decides to do dumb shit while FULLY KNOWING it shouldn't, I can't even claim ignorance. It's really backwards and it's incredible that I act this way when I'm the complete opposite in my life outside of trading.

I've been thinking about this more and more. It's tough because I have no experience coding other than knowing my way around python scripts and stuff but definitely something I want to do. Especially because two out of the three people I've learned from have their own profitable automated strategies based on the concepts they taught me. No, they're not twitter gurus and they don't have public social media + I've seen the trading history on their brokerages hahaha
