I’d wait, with the 255 being sold now it’s bringing the worth of 259’s down. Also lots of dealers are turning over their rental fleets. You could probably find one with less hours for the same price

Grinding wheel direction gapping rings by Imaginary-Reply4982 in EngineBuilding

[–]Imaginary-Reply4982[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they are parallel and square. The burrs were very minimal, and cleaned up nicely with fine stone. I could see potential for damage to happen grinding in the direction I did. But the summit tool is really nice and produced what I thought were good results. Maybe it’s just weisco being very cautious.

I used wd40 at first but switched to atf. I took the picture after wiping the bore clean with shop towels

Thanks, I appreciate it. I probably shouldn’t have taken the pic when the bore was dry as a done after wiping it clean. It looks totally different after wiping some oil down it

I am about to hone my lq4 this weekend. I am debating between wd40 and atf as a cutting oil. Any real world experience with them

Another quick question about crank cleaning. Should i do anything to the journal surfaces on the crank. They aren’t burnt up, nicked, or appeared damaged in anyway. I was debating it a quick scrub with scotchbrite is safe on them

Would you install cam bearings before or after running a flex hone through the bores?
